I'm so mad that a crucial piece of ADHD infrastructure for me has been learning to leave shit half done. It flies in the face of all conventional wisdom. It flies in the face of my own experience, as a serial ongoing project neglector. I gotta just stop, and stop where it makes the LEAST amount of sense to stop.
If I say "just let me just get to a good stopping point," that is the devil speaking through me. If I get to a good stopping point, I wrap up a big chunk of a project, I put everything away, mentally and physically. Getting to a good stopping point means finishing up all the easy stuff you already figured out how to do, so the next step when you try to get back to it is all hard stuff, AND you have to get all the Tools and Materials out again? Nothing will come of this. One million quilt blocks be upon ye, and no finished quilt.
And if I say "I'll power through and finish now, and then I'll be done," this is an even bigger and meaner devil. I know I CAN work when I'm getting progressively more tired, hungry, or frustrated, but I also know my efficiently is going to start dropping rapidly. There is NO POINT in pushing through that, if you aren't in high school. Adult deadlines aren't real. File for an extension on your taxes and do that shit whenever. Don't finish Now. Finish in the morning, finish after lunch, after you've taken a little walk. You have to fight the demon that really really REALLY wants to be Done, because when you force yourself to work while not at your best you cause it to take twice as long and make you four times as miserable. I know you're thinking "but if I don't finish while I have motivation I might never finish", and that's true, but only if you stop WRONG
You gotta stop time's up pencils down NO last minute final touches. Leave the needle in the fabric. Do not tie a knot. For the love of god do not put anything away if you can help it. Do not save and exit that word document. Listen, it fucking hurts. It rankles at you the rest of the day, the feeling of "oooh I was so close, I just gotta do this one little thing." That's GOOD. That feeling is what breaks the cycle, the tendency to put something down and not touch it for a month or more. That one little thing is a gift to yourself in the morning. It gets you back in. Then when you're high on having finished your big task and STILL full of energy because it's a new day and you only did one little thing?? Maybe you're going to bask in that for a while, but if you're anything like me that's when you start the next hard thing. Because you're already up and doing stuff, and you've just proven to yourself that projects do get finished sometimes. And THIS is how you build momentum. This is how you regain faith in yourself.
I think the real problem with Crowd Control is just like...that shit is hard and not a lot of comedians can focus on crowd work exclusively like that. They can incorporate it into their sets! But often they like, slide out of their prepared work for a bit and then can slide back into it. But if they do that on Crowd Control, it feels almost conceited.
The reason that the Game Changer episode is the best iteration is because they picked comedians specifically for it. Crowd Control has to fill out an entire season and work with the schedules of a huge cast of talent. If it's like the other shows, they film it in a very tight window. I can't imagine it's filmed in a just few days like other shows since they have the audience to manage as well, but it's not like they can just quick do an episode when Gianmarco Soresi happens to be in LA.
I'm hoping that this first episode of season two is an indication that the show has its footing better than season one! There's definite improvement, even if the comedians still seem a bit shy about really questioning the audience.
If nothing else, Jacquis Neal is an amazing host and I'm happy to watch just for him.
realizing that the online sphere and especially tumblr is NOT a good sample for ‘what everyone thinks’ is so, so, so good for your mental health and moral OCD. i swear to god. realizing that you don’t have to live your actual life like you’re being hunted for sport because the average tumblr user will hunt you for sport for wording something slightly weird or engaging in the wrong stuff or whatever is so incredible. like no you’re actually not fucked up and evil for not donating or for watching that one indie cartoon or questioning a post that everybody is agreeing with. that’s just tumblrs georg making you feel that way

Listen I get it but you CANNOT use "sensory nightmare" as an excuse to avoid essential things. You HAVE to find a way to make it work, such as finding effective alternatives. But you can't just avoid it.
You need to eat some vegetables in your diet or you will become a lich.
You have to wear a life jacket or you will literally drown and die.
You need to be able to exist in public spaces with children.
You have to find a way.
you've heard of "do it scared" now get ready for "do it a little bit uncomfortable"
One legitimately weird thing about Tumblr is that we literally can’t code for shit, many people quit working at Tumblr due to a hostile work environment, and we can’t seem to program a simple blogging website to not flood your RAM.

trying to explain to tumblr that the Middle Class in not their enemy
saw someone say that someone complaining about only having 7k in savings makes them contemplate “doing something bad”
you know that 7k covers like. one hospital visit WITH insurance, right?
“people who make six figures shouldn’t be allowed to complain —“ most people who make six figures are, these days, solidly middle class. where i live, a combined household income of $110k is *lower middle class*.
“people who can afford homes —“ are typically 400-600k in debt for them. also if “can own your own home” is your threshold for the rich you are contemplating eating, i think you are genuinely stupid
“boohoo your investments dropped, stop complaining rich boy” idk how to tell you this but. most of us have a retirement account. you should probably open one
Out of all the heated rivalry analysis I’ve seen I’ve never seen someone mention that after the all star game Shane no longer drafts and deletes texts. He says what he intends to say the first time and stops editing and second guessing himself and it’s one of my favorite details showing that their dynamic has changed and no one talks about it

Shout out to people with dashboard cams who capture stuff like the 21 year old who landed a plane on a highway and artfully dodged an overhead sign.
i know folks are gonna call me a pedo for this one, but i grew up seeing my mom and grandma naked. they had health issues and at times needed care and help showering. and i truly think more kids need to be shown the nonsexual reality of naked women at a young age. there is nothing sexual about my grandmothers breasts, they were simply body parts. more women die of heart attacks because people are too afraid of breasts to do real chest compressions, because they are scared to touch their breasts. the sexualization of our bodies literally kills us. i need people to be more normal about naked bodies and i'm 100% serious.
I grew up around naked old people who weren't even my family! Gasp! And it was a good thing. I grew up around old-school hippies at a place called Lothlorien (in Indiana) and one of my friends dads held a sauna day every Sunday in the middle of the woods (like you cannot drive to their house, you park about a quarter mile away and walk into the woods kind of woods). All day random old people came to get naked, high (pot), and sweaty. Just random old peen and boobs swaying with the leaves. No big deal. These are things that I believe made me more at home in my body, made me more excited about aging, made me more willing to fight for my security and safety.
Bodies are just bodies. Nothing sacred and nothing inherently shameful or sinful either. The fact that we still can't get that through everyone in however many years it's been is just fucking idiotic.
so apparently when jrr tolkien was a professor on the first day of class he’d wait until his students were in the lecture hall and seated and starting to wonder whether they were all in the wrong room before throwing open the doors at the back of the hall and striding down the aisle reciting the first 50 lines of beowulf in old english so moral of the story if you don’t know anything about jrr tolkien aside from lotr you are missing out my friend
people are always saying “they have should be at the club” about characters who would immediately have a panic attack if even put in the general vicinity of one
I love living in 2026 because I go to Home Depot and buy a 5-gallon bucket for $4. I say I do not want an email receipt. They know my email anyway because I once ordered a mop online. They email me to ask how I like my 5-gallon bucket. I do not reply. They email me again. They would like my feedback. Reminder ‼️I have purchases to review. Did my 5 gallon bucket live up to my expectations? 3 minute survey!!

Hello person having transgender thoughts but convinced they aren't trans because they don't have the requisite amount of dysphoria they think they need
Hi I transitioned without even thinking I had dysphoria. Like later in hindsight I can go "oh that's probably what it was" but for the first year of my transition I was straight up like "I like being a guy but I like being a girl WAY more" and you can do that!! There is no prerequisite amount of suffering needed to make yourself happier.
Gonna include these tags cuz they're good
#also the thing about suffering is you often don't realize you're suffering if you've lived your whole life that way#'oh I feel mildly uncomfortable but it's not THAT bad... ohh... OHH I DIDN'T REALIZE HOW DEPRESSED I WAS'#is super common#so putting discomfort as a barrier to entry is super counterproductive#in ANY situation
I'm pretty proud of myself for divorcing "overeating" from "will become fat."
I was talking to an acquaintance about an upcoming food event, and she mentioned her husband overeats, and I genuinely went ??? so he gives himself stomach aches? But no it turns out she's concerned that he'll gain weight. Over one big meal, at an event that includes a lot of walking. Yeah, that's how bodies work.
And I used to say the stomach ache thing as a joke, but now it's just where my brain goes when it comes to overeating. Hell yeah.
