In Polish goldenrod is called 'nawłoć', but there’s also a local, unofficial name, 'mimoza' even though it has nothing to do with real mimosa. A great Polish poet, Julian Tuwim, published in 1921 a poem, that was later immortalised with very popular song by Czesław Niemen [LISTEN]. The first two verses of this poem are “With mimosas autumn begins / Golden, brittle, and nice”. I have those verses so deeply inscribed in my mind, that whenever I see those flowers, I start to feel and think: autumn is coming. No matter that they sometimes start to blossom in middle of summer, autumn is coming. ;)
