Mechanic AU?? This started from wanting to draw Tony in a jumpsuit and then sort of spiraled from there. Hayes manages scheduling/marketing/basically everything in the garage that isn't actually fixing the cars.

Rainey and Tony go way back, so she and Hayes very quickly built a friendship over roasting his ass. She's glad to know there's always somebody around to call him on his nonsense!

I thought about Hayes' helmet prongs being able to emote for .2 seconds and nOW IT IS CANON. Of course it wouldn't really work like that, but... suspension of disbelief, baby!

I really like the idea of them and Chance being cousins, since their properties are owned by the same toy company. They're good buddies!! And Hayes running around the house pretending to be a vigilante means they bring back a lot of stories for Chance, who in turn is kind enough to include them in his TTRPG endeavors.

They also have a huge giant world-ending crush on Tony. Hayes started bringing some broken toys to him to try and fix... which quickly escalated into finding more excuses to go see him. But the way Tony talks, they're pretty sure their crush wouldn't be reciprocated, so the helmet stays ON whenever they're in the breaker closet. More on that later.

Hayes is the personification of toys and collectibles. Specifically, those that gather dust, fall off shelves or get left in storage. They've cobbled together some armor from a variety of busted toys, and tout themselves as the defender of the lost and discarded, but talking to them reveals pretty immediately that they're just a dork who knows a LOT about all the nerd media the homeowner has enjoyed over the years. Plus, the busted knee makes it hard to seem like a threat, Exacting Blade or no.

It's beyond cool to be welcomed into a roller derby league as a newbie- especially since right now it's scary as hell to be visibly trans in general, but certainly in any sort of athletic field. So thanks to the cool, smart, compassionate people out there working hard to make a difference, during pride month and all year long.
