well, considering four of them have never met the cookies who make them up in their lives... most of their reactions would boil down to this.

it would mostly be confusion, again because theyve never met these cookies before. i do think that rye and immortal would end up fighting, mostly because rye starts shooting at her, but thats it. blueberry pie doesnt leave her tower, so dragon lord would have to have Appeared there, to which she'd promptly kick him out. and bright... doesnt get out much, so aegis couldnt really meet her. and i like to think dawnbringer just yoinks dozer though. like yeah. youre coming home with me type vibes. shes gonna go show him to salt

the only ancient who knows the swapped beast would be Compassionate. and i got lazy so his reaction is a lot of this.

The Virtue of Knowledge herself~!” Five silhouettes rose before the book. Unlike the mannequins or the paper dolls, these cookies where made of cardboard. They had no faces, no real bodies, nothing but dark shapes, yet each carried a symbol that struck the mind harder than likeness could have. The first stood front and center, wings adorning the sides of their head. Their body was covered by layers of flowing fabric, obscuring anything concrete, but on their chest was a purple clover turned upside down, framed by the almond shape of an eyecing. On one side rose a figure with a large hat and a gun in hand, aiming outward, a triangle-shaped gem serving as belt buckle. On the other, a Cookie with great delicate wings flowing behind them like a cape and an upside down heart hovering adorning their head. Behind them two more figures appeared. A figure with a blue gem set into their head, the same shaped and color as the gemstone on the book, and ribbon-like shapes flowing around them, frozen in beautiful arcs. The last was the smallest. They were almost shapeless, with a three-pronged flower flipped around on their chest. White Lily’s hands curled helplessly in their bindings. The Virtues. These were what the figures from Elder Faerie's story looked like? The silhouettes trembled in the stage light, ancient and simplified, myth reduced to prop and yet still too powerful to look at directly. Their symbols glowed in their dark bodies, drawing all the attention there."

After months of vague posting and dodging your questions, they're finally here! The Swapped Beasts of the HBAN AU!

Now that the Silver Kingdom arc is coming to an end and we prepared for the Beasts arcs, I thought I'd go ahead and reveal who exactly they are!

Your Beasts! Black Raisin Cookie (Despair), Rye Cookie (Judgement), Blueberry Pie Cookie (Futility), Gingerbright (Doubt), and Gingerdozer (Silence)! There were so many great guesses, some of you got Black Raisin and Blueberry Pie pretty quickly, just based on their absences in HBAN!

I won't reveal much about them and their stories since I want you all to experience it live was the story goes on, but let it be know that I am SO EXCITED to talk about them with you guys!

The Night of the Witch’s Banquet

The scenes of Gingerbrave going through the Witch’s banquet really stuck with me. Now only him trying to help all the cookies escape but at the end how he never blames any of them for his fall into the Ultimate Dough.

Was basically trying to recreate the scene from the tower, this one. I used a photo and definitely did some editing before I drew Gingerbrave. It was a challenge but a lot of fun

I like that guy as much as the next person, but the amount of promo/videos/etc he’s getting is like eating the same food over and over again. You might love the food starting out, but you’re gonna get sick and/or want something else eventually.

the problem is that he's a little too attached to shadow milk's hip at the moment. their dynamic is fun, but Pure Vanilla has characterization outside of being Shmilk's adversary (let alone his plight with White Lily, but i digress). And the more you keep mashing these two together over and over and over, the more tired it gets. Pure Vanilla is associated with Shadow Milk and vice versa, and when people are already tired of one character, the other, by association, risks that too. Shadow Milk and Pure Vanilla get butts in seats, pencils on paper, and tags in the algorithm. But at what cost to either of them, and to the people (us) constantly seeing them?

Pertaining to Shadow Milk’s role in the narrative: You can have an elaborate plan for a story years and years in advance and still fumble the execution

Even if Shadow Milk has been built up for a long time, which I don’t doubt to a degree, the way Devsis have been presenting him in-game and out is not appealing to everyone. Which, of course it isn’t, as nothing can appeal to everyone—but the issue is that they seem very excited, a little too excited to push their character out into the world.

It’s like if during Gravity Falls’s run, Bill Cipher got tons of official promos and episodes where he spent half the runtime monologuing. Then Disney put his face on all their marketing material. Surely Alex Hirsch had a very detailed plan for Bill walking in, but with him being literally inescapable, people grow tired of seeing him. The mystique of Bill Cipher came from how little of him we saw despite his importance to the lore. Shadow Milk had that potential but it was pretty much squandered after chapters 7 and 8. (imo, Shadow Milk was at his most engaging and mystical when we had less of him. The time between his introduction in BY 1 and 2 up to BY 7 and 8, when his presence was strong but not too overbearing)

Shadow Milk’s staying power is undermined by how Devsis chose to write him and promote him. In game, he is extremely dependent on long dialogues and/or lots of screentime, to the detriment of most other characters in the same scene as him. In promotional material, Devsis are getting dependent on him to make money. We’re seeing him everywhere, and while some people will eat it up, a lot of others won’t—and therein lies the diminishing impact of the years of planning the writers had done for this character. No matter how detailed your story is, a reader can still drop the book at any time
