i don’t know why you insist on sending me messages when i’ve blocked you, @puterman1. race-swapping characters of colours takes away from pre-existing representation. it isn’t happening in a neutral environment. for decades, mainstream media has been centring white characters as the default leads, while people of colour are sidelined/stereotyped/excluded. and bc of that imbalance, changing a white character to a black (or a person of colour) character isn’t equivalent to doing the reverse. race-swapping a white character to a black one is working to fix the gap in visibility and representation. and guess what? it will still never be enough because there’s so many more movies made about white people and the ones with new black characters are being ignored by people like you. and instead of being a whiny 31 year old bitch in my inbox about my hypocrisy, why don’t you go watch movies with black people as new main characters since you’re advocating for newly created black characters and not race-swapped ones. you can watch two a day and report back to me, since you REFUSE to leave me the fuck alone. and no, movies with slave narrative or movies where we’re still not free don’t fucking count.
