People are so pressed that writers don't want their work uploaded to an app that is then free to do whatever they want with it. Not to mention how engagement is pretty low even now. And with lore, the user wouldn't even have to click into to the fic to copy/paste it. They could just copy the title link so the writer doesn't even get the hit.

So many commenters are saying "you already wrote it for free posted it publicly so what does it matter?"

Just because I didn't get paid to make it doesn't mean I don't own it. It doesn't mean anyone can do whatever they want with it.

Fanfiction is not "content" it is a labor of love. We do this out of love for the source material, the characters, the actors. We create art out of pure love and joy for someone else's art.

I started writing creatively 20 years ago. The only reason I have to share that publicly is the sense of community. Take that away and what's left?
