Is this a regulation-length game where there is one full hockey team and the other bench is occupied solely by the 6 mcdavids, or is there a big enough team of mcdavids that there are always 6 mcdavids on the ice? Or is this a 5 minute 5-on-5 of average team v mcdavids?

Like idk I think it's a super interesting question based on a) how long the match is b) how many mcdavids there are and c) the whole goalie mcdavid conundrum...

I personally don't think mcdavid could play as a goalie for a whole game tbh. Like sure he has some amount of flexibility, but like I don't think he has goalie-level flexibility (or goalie core strength) that he'd need if he was gonna be the goalie for team mcdavid.

So if we say that it's a (regular season) regulation-length game with a whole team of mcdavids (20 mcdavids + EBUG mcdavid), I think it could actually (maybe) be interesting and perhaps nuanced. Like would the mcdavids end up going for no goalie to avoid one of the mcdavids being "wasted" as a goalie or would they have one man the net? Cause I think coordination and reaction-speed-wise, mcdavid could be a goalie passably (barring the previously outlined issues with goalie mcdavid), so maybe they would actually go for a goalie... They could just go through one goalie mcdavid per period (main goalie, backup, and EBUG mcdavid) which would be kinda... Interesting but could work.

Furthermore, is there a coach and is the coach mcdavid (would they even need a coach?)? Like I think coach mcdavid could work for a team of mcdavids, but if someone else is coaching and entire team of him, that might work out differently than if it was just mcdavid.

Another (maybe) interesting question is a team of top players v team mcdavid...

i was thinking an entire regulation game? for freshness to be a control variable, it would have to be a bench full of mcdavids, and i think that's a huge factor in whether or not they would succeed.

but yeah, goalie mcdavid is the true crux of the issue. he could definitely perform well as a defenceman, but as a goalie? that's a specific skillset that we don't know he possesses. as you said, he has fast reaction speeds but he doesn't necessarily have the flexibility. i think it would have to be the same mcdavid goalie the whole game for control purposes, but they could pull him. so do they go empty net the entire game, maybe? trust that the combined offensive power of the other mcdavids will keep the regular team off the puck entirely? much to consider.

there's also soft factors like chemistry. does one mcdavid know exactly what the others are going to do? or is it a situation where you overthink and end up second guessing yourself? does it work like magnets where identical poles repel each other?

icl i hadn't even thought about coaching, but i do like the idea that the coaches are also mcdavids. they are seeing the game from the bench with mcdavid vision and responding accordingly.
