On one hand it has similar properties to essential oils, but is much less concentrated so doesn’t need any dilution before applying and safe for all ages. On the other hand hydrosols contain other beneficial water soluble parts of the plants. How do we extract it? With the help of this beautiful COPPER still. Plant material and water are heated by fire and transformed into a vapor. This vapor condenses down into aromatic water and essential oil. Why copper? It has quite higher cost than similar stainless steel unit. Three major reasons. Its very high thermal conductivity helps to distribute heat evenly and the vapor to cool quickly. Copper being long lasting material. And the last but not the least reason - copper has been proven to have antimicrobial properties and destroys a wide range of bacteria that may otherwise appear in hydrosol. Aromatic distillation is a traditional method of extracting and capturing the aromas from plants. It is alchemical in nature - a process that relies on the four elements of earth, air, fire, & water in the transmutation of one form into another. The Alchemists of old believed their work to be a spiritual discipline. Modern alchemical scholars have interpreted this spiritual work metaphorically; Alchemy could be considered a collection of psychic processes shared within the totality of human experiences, or what Carl Jung termed the 'collective unconscious'. In this interpretation, the 'lead into gold' of the Alchemists becomes an inspirational allegory of the work required for the refinement of Self and emanation of the Soul.
