The first time you meet Satoru Gojo, he’s wearing fluffy slippers, holding a coffee mug, and jiggling the handle to what you hope is his own apartment.
It’s not a nice mug. It's chipped on the side and says “World’s Okayest Human” in bold red font. He's shirtless, but not in the flirty “look at me kind of way”, but in the “I woke up at noon and didn’t think consequences existed” kind of way.
You just wanted to go downstairs to check your mail.
He notices you and lights up. “Hey neighbor,” he grins, like he’s known you forever, “quick question. How do you feel about breaking and entering?”
You blink. “What?”
He shifts his weight to one foot. “I’m locked out. My phone is inside. My dignity is nowhere to be found. You wouldn’t happen to be handy with a bobby pin, would you?”
You stare. “Do I look like a criminal?”
“Honestly you look like someone with potentially strong moral boundaries, which I’m hoping you’ll set aside for just ninety seconds?”
You don’t smile. Instead, you sigh, march back into your apartment, and come back with a wire hanger. “You're gonna owe me a hanger.”
He clutches his chest like you just confessed your love. “Be still, my heart.”
Silently, you jiggle the lock, carefully maneuvering the hanger you sacrificed.
“So,” he says.
You glance at him. “What?”
“What brings you to the building?”
You blink. “I live here.”
He looks genuinely impressed. “Wow. Small world.”
You turn your attention back to the lock. “Why are you out here, anyway?”
“I was getting some air.”
You look down at his fluffy slippers, then at the coffee mug in his hand.
“At noon?”
“Fresh air doesn't have a schedule.”
“You're shirtless.”
“I was committed to the experience.”
You snort before you can stop yourself.
His eyebrows shoot up.
You immediately return your attention to the lock.
“Oh,” he says, sounding delighted. “There it is.”
“There what is?”
“A laugh.”
“I didn't laugh.”
“You did.”
“I didn't.”
“I think we're going to get along.”
You pause for a second, then continue working on the lock.“Why were you actually out here?”
“I was taking my coffee outside.”
You look down at the mug in his hand. “Why?”
“It was too hot.”
“Right…”
“Hey, don't judge me. I had a very intense morning. Burnt my tongue pretty badly.”
“You woke up at noon, didn't you?”
His eyebrows lift. “How did you know that?”
You don't have to answer. Your eyes just scan him from head to toe before paying attention to the lock again.
He looks down at himself, then back at you. “Is it that obvious?”
“Painfully.”
“Wow. We just met and you're already hurting my feelings.”
“You'll survive.”
“I'm not so sure.”
“You didn't think to bring your keys?”
He smiles sheepishly. “Nope.”
You narrow your eyes. “Are you always this irresponsible?”
“Only before noon.”
“It's twelve-thirty.”
“Exactly. I'm having a rough day.”
You shake your head, turning the hanger again. “What's your name, anyway?”
He looks at you. “You're breaking into my apartment and you don't even know my name?”
“Youre the one who asked me to.”
“Just testing your memory.” He takes another sip of his coffee. “Satoru.”
You glance at him. “Satoru what?”
His smile widens. “Gojo.”
You nod once. “Okay.”
“That's it?”
“What else am I supposed to say?”
“I don't know, maybe what people usually do and tell me yours?”
You finally feel the lock give.
“Got it.”
The door clicks open.
Gojo whistles low. “Remind me never to make you mad.”
“You should really get a spare key,” you mutter.
He leans against the doorframe. “I’ll hide it under the plant you’re going to give me next week when we become best friends.”
You raise an eyebrow. “Is that so?”
“Oh yeah. It’s fate. You broke into my apartment, that makes us bonded for life. Pretty sure it’s law.”
“Again, I did not break into your apartment. You told me to help you.”
“The suspiciously bent hanger says otherwise.” He winks which causes you to turn and head back into your apartment shutting the door on him. Your mail can wait.
That should’ve been the end of it. But the next morning, he knocks on your door holding two cups, a paper bag, and an offensively bright smile, paired with his equally bright hair.
“A Peace offering,” he says. “For traumatizing you with my glorious, shirtless presence.”
You open the door halfway. “You don’t even know if I like coffee.”
His grin widens. “That’s why I brought tea, too. And a donut. I’m rigging the odds.”
You don’t say yes. You just open the door fully and step aside.
And just like that, Satoru Gojo steps into your apartment like he’s always belonged there.

Satoru Gojo, who checks every 2.5 seconds out the window waiting for your arrival. He might've said he doesn't care that you're going out on a mission alone after a petty fight, but his actions say otherwise.
Satoru Gojo, who checks his phone every time there's a notification for a sign that you're okay. He just wants that one call, a text would even suffice. It kills him to know you're okay, but too stubborn to admit it and call you instead.
Satoru Gojo, who hears you coming in through the backdoor of your shared home and immediately runs back into the room before you spot him by the window. Too bad for him, you heard him bumping into the coffee table and letting out a whine.
Satoru Gojo, who grabs the nearest book and opens it to a random page to appear busy. Doesn’t take long for you to notice that the book is upside down and his “sneaky” glances at you.
Satoru Gojo, who folds when you lay next to him and give a soft apology into the pillow. The book ends up somewhere on the floor for his hands are now occupied giving you a massage on your neck and slowly making his way to your shoulders and back.
Satoru Gojo, who tells you there’s nothing to apologize for, reassuring you that it’s never your fault. He wipes your tears away, silently hating himself for being the one to make you cry.
Satoru Gojo, who runs you a bath and gives you time to yourself as he orders your favorite foods to be delivered. He sets up the room with extra pillows and blankets, setting up the surround sound system to watch whatever movie it was that you were going on about the other day.
Satoru Gojo, who holds his darling after they passed out from exhaustion midway through the movie. It doesn’t bother him at all. The movie will always be there, but you? He isn’t sure how long you’ll put up with him so he’ll take this moment laying in each other's arms over anything.
Satoru Gojo, who whispers “I love you” one last time before falling asleep next to you.
