Any other party and Leia would probably standing at the bar, letting the bartender give her drink after drink while eyeing the crowd to find someone she could share a bed with for a night. But not tonight. This party could be crucial for the career she desperately wanted, and she was well aware of that. Not to mention the obvious, and kind of embarrassing plan Mrs. Maxwell had to set her up with her son. She had even told Leia to dress pretty, like she was some kind of 5 year old that needed fashion advice. She did, however, still wear the prettiest and most expensive dress she owned. Not to impress some spoiled boy, but the actually important people.
She had already been making conversation with some producers whose names she actually knew when she saw Mrs. Maxwell standing around with a group of people. Quickly excusing herself, she made her way over to the woman she worked for, trying to make sure her fake smile was the perfect amount of approachable, but professional. It was little tricks like that got you far - being nice, but not too nice, putting in little details of your personal life, but not too many. She remembered when her aunt told her that, and it definitely worked - she did get a great job right out of college, after all.
âSo nice to see you, Mrs. Maxwell. Thanks for the invite,â she said, the smile still plastered on her face. She was starting to look around the group to do her usual round of introducing herself when she locked eyes with the boy, no, man that was undoubtedly Mrs. Maxwellâs son.
Well. He looked different than the photo her boss had on her desk, so much was for sure. It slowly crept up on her that she knew him from somewhere. When the realization finally hit her, her smile dropped for a faint second. Shit. She had expected some scrawny dude that had never had a girlfriend, not the dude she hooked up with weeks ago. It took her a few seconds to gather herself and put the smile on her face again. She desperately hoped it wasnât noticeable how fake it was. âHey, you must be Ian. Your mother told me so much about you,â she said, extending her hand, the smile growing even wider. Of course, in her head, she was praying to god and everything else above that no one would notice the slight worry in her voice.
Ian was almost convinced that this was all just a joke, an elaborate plan all made by his mother. That maybe sheâd suddenly laugh and told him this wasnât really was going on. But considering how joking was never his motherâs forte, that was the most unlikely situation he could ever found himself in. Which only meant that this was all just luck and coincidence that something like this happened to him. Which was a huge irony, since he never even believed that those are the two things he never believed in life.Â
Well, at least he wasnât the only one who seemed to be baffled. If anything the girl looked even more surprised than he was, despite the smile that his mother seemed to buy. He couldnât help but smirk at all of this. Looks like this partyâs going to take an interesting turn... "The one and only,â he said as he took her hand and shook it. âIâm sure she did.â Ian winked. âWhat was your name again?â His mother glared at him, not a surprise there. She mentioned her name so many times whenever she was telling him about her, but he usually just tuned her whenever the conversation started. That being said though, Ian definitely didnât forget her name, he remembered her name from that night they had sex. Then again, being a fan of Star Wars, it was hard not to remember.
