Artist of the Week: Ian Chadwick

Q: How did you get started in glass? A: My first glass sculpture was at the age of 16, it was a figure of Narcissus made from smashed bottles fixed with UV glue. It was a little contrived but I enjoyed the medium. I then went on to study for a fine art degree and after trying all different mediums I ended up producing sculptural optical art using plastics and glass. After I graduated I worked for several years in a glass studio working on domestic, ecclesiastical and restoration projects before becoming a freelance stained glass designer. During this time I was experimenting in my free time with kiln-formed techniques which over time became my passion and eventually my business. I now make my living producing unique decorative and functional glass.
