Reflections on being a Mompreneur:

I am so blessed to get to spend my days with my little one... it get’s a little rough when my husband, Adam travels for work and some days (like today) I’ll have a call with a client, sponsor, or speaker and she’s tugging at me for attention or laughing maniacally in the foreground to the point where I can’t even think straight. But, I have to say how refreshing it is when the person (or people) on the other side of the call takes it in stride and we sidebar into a conversation about their little ones, nieces and nephews, etc... it’s a real moment to connect on a human level and it’s a beautiful thing. We always manage to get down to business and achieve a deeper appreciation for one another. 

Five (or ten) years from now, when I get interviewed about how I restarted my passion for songwriting and singing, I will reference this song: India Arie’s Chicken Soup in a Song. It gave me all the feels, moved me to tears, and resonated on such a deep level for me that it reminded me of how powerful the right lyric, melody, and vocal delivery can touch people in a meaningful way. It made me ache to be in studio, writing and singing again. 

Nerd Alert. It’s back to school season and I’m channeling the enthusiasm of my younger self into a brand new Process Journal and Sketchbook. I’m going to write out ideas for experiments, track results of my trials, and sketch out new compositions. Super excited to take things to the next level. 

It’s been 9 months since I started making art every single day (with few exceptions) and already the journey has been marked by so much growth and discovery. Looking forward to the journey ahead. 

Last month’s event was so inspiring. In the short allotted time, the panelists (Mickey Cockrell, Chuck Leddy, and Paula Garcia) really brought home some invaluable points that I (and many others) took away, such as: 

• Stay informed. You can’t care about what you don’t know. 

• Find a cause that is near and dear to you and get involved in a way that is meaningful for you.

• Say hello. Be authentic.

• Care about the person next to you. Be compassionate - everyone is going through something. 

As folks walked in, we asked the icebreaker question, “Why do we gather?” We got answers that ranged from “bacon” and “coffee” to “making new friends” and “to build a tribe.” We want to challenge you all to continue thinking about it... you can be sure that we, the CMBOS team, think about it all the time. 

What is the true reason we get out of bed earlier and make our way to a CreativeMornings event? 

Is CreativeMornings truly a community or are we simply a fun networking event? 

Are we here for the free donuts, bacon, and coffee? Or, are we here to fulfill a deep and innate longing for connection?

What are we each doing to build CMBOS into a stronger, kinder, warmer, and more connected community?

Hmmm... 🤔 

Because every thought, every word and every action ought to begin with clear intention, lest we falter in the breeze like loose feathers. 

WHAT WORD DO YOU WANT TO ALIGN YOURSELF WITH?

My word is ALIGNMENT. 

I want to align myself with my truth, my purpose, my calling. 

I want to be aligned with the universe, positive energy, and big-hearted people who give a damn. 

I want to align with the creator so I can search the bottomless depths of my own creativity. 

I want to be aligned with my self and find/speak/sing in my own unique voice. 

I want to align my art with my life... and my life with my art so that the words I speak and the life I lead are resonant in the “strokes of my paintbrush”.

I want my life to be I n perfectly alignment and harmony with mom life.
