As someone who grew up christian, this is my favorite scene of McCoy's

i'm no Bones girlie, but i grew up Southern Baptist, and knowing something of De Kelley's and his wife's respective religious backgrounds (and i'd have to assume traumas)... this scene hits different. he says this line from a place inside that you can't fake. this scene is part of why The Final Frontier is up there with Voyage Home for me.

After escaping evangelical christianity, I get this 100%, like even knowing that he never left christainity, you can tell how important to him that an all powerful god be kind as well.

Sometimes, when you get stuck in a parallel reality where everything that went wrong in your life never happened, and you can't find you're way home, your very own field guide might come in handy. Too bad Jim is making it up as he goes.
Jim is thrown into the Prime Universe (set after tmp) and has to figure out some way to get back to his crew. Spock will do anything to find his captain and bring him back safely, even if he has to search every timeline. Countless other versions of themselves are yet to be seen, and Spock might even find a travel buddy.
