I’m doing the Freshers’ Week design for the University of Glasgow again.
Though I was told it was going to be a bit of a rush job this year, I wanted to establish what the organisations were looking for. Under a brief which contained increased pressure from clubs in town, I wanted to do a design that didn’t pander to new students, but would be cool, interesting and that they’d wanted to hang on their walls of their flats. I put together a concept I was pretty happy with (top), could have used a little polish, but the bigwigs weren’t having it.
Bottom is the final artwork I submitted and was accepted. It clearly fulfils the original brief, but I can’t help but feel it was a bit of a missed opportunity.
