My Oh So Crazy Life

I wanna thank all you guys who have read these one shot during this month!! I started this as a test for my own writing but in the end, it was just fun to sit down and write something for NCT. You were avoiding him. 

Why? Because he lied. 

You met him during math class. He sweet talked you, made you feel special. 

He planned dates for you. He introduced you to his friends. He took you to football games, parties, the movies, the amusement park. He even bought matching couples clothes. 

It was a lie

It was all a lie. 

You were waiting for him outside the school, the day you found out. 

You knew he had gym last period with all his friends. They usually hang out after in the lockers to talk more like gossip. You decided to head that way. He usually was never late. As you approached the boys lockers, you heard voices. Your steps picked up as you neared the door. 

The words you heard flow out, stopped you in your tracks. 

“So how’s the bet going?” said Jaemin. 

“Dude. Stop.” Your boyfriend said. 

“What! We’re just saying you’ve already passed the 90 day mark. You could have been broken up with her. Whats stopping you?” Renjun asked.

“Yeah Babe. What’s stopping you?” You stood in the entrance, hot tears running down your face. The seven boys in the room shocked at your appearance. Donghyuck slowly put down his towel and took a step towards you. You took a step back. You held your hand out to stop him for coming closer. 

“Tell me truth. Was I a bet? Was everything we’ve done a bet!” You took his silence for a yes. 

You shook you head in disbelief, “So what, we you supposed to have sex with me before the 90 days were up. Were you supposed to find out my darkest secret so you and your friends could spill it to the school? OOOOO I know!” You walked closer until you nose to nose with Donghyuck. His eyes showed remorse but you could care less right now.

“I know what you were supposed to do. We were supposed to celebrate our 90 day mark. And then the next day you would break up with me. Humiliate me in front of the whole school. Call me pathetic. Call me a waste of your time and money. Get the entire school to see what a loser who got played looked like.” You circled him like a lion hunting prey. 

“But you fucked up, Donghyuck. You fell in love with me. That wasn’t apart of the plan. You kept this going, hoping your friends would forget the bet even existed. Then one day, years later, you would work up the courage to finally tell me that you started dating me for a bet. And I would just laugh and let it because I. Love. You.” You stopped in your tracks and shook your head. 

“But no. You don’t get that. You get to watch me walk away. The final thing you remember from this relationship is the crying face of the girl whose heart you destroyed.”

Which lead you here. The tears had stopped. The rage was gone. All that was left is the love you still had for him. You wanted to forget but no matter how much you tried. It didn’t worked. You looked at Donghyuck jacket hanging on your desk chair. The strip of photos from your third date. The polar bear that Donghyuck brought because he couldn’t win it for you. Everything you saw reminded you of him. 

“Y/n! There are sevens boys loitering on our front lawn. I think they want to see you!” Your mom hollered up the stairs. You already knew who was on your lawn but why all seven of them. 

You came downstairs and made it to the door. Your mom patted your shoulder before you stepped outside. The seven boys were arguing on your front lawn, well six were. The seventh, Donghyuck stood in silence, eyes locked on yours. The other boys piped down once they notice you waiting on your front porch. 

“What do you want?” You said, venom spitting dripping in your tone. 

Mark stepped forward from the line, hands held up in surrender, “We want to explain the bet. We only made it because we were sick of Donghyuck.” 

You felt confused, “Sick of Donghyuck? For what?”

“Because He constantly gushed about you without making a move.” Jaemin spoke up. 

“Seriously, It’s been constant since you helped with his math homework one time. Literally months ago.” Renjun added. 

“He’s been obsessed with you. We just wanted him to finally approach you. We know Donghyuck best. He wasn’t gonna do it without a push.” Jeno explained. 

“Look noona, the whole bet was for Donghyuck to date you for 90 days. Then all he had to do after was admit that we were right that he had nothing to worry about when it came to dating you.” Jisung looked remorseful. You eyes locked on Donghyuck again as you considered his friends words.

“Is this true?” You addressed him. 

He finally walked to you. He stopped in front of you and held your gaze.

“Its true. I-i really like you Y/n. I still do. I am so sorry. I wanted to tell you but I was afraid of this. I-i didn’t want to lose you.” Donghyuck stuffed his hands into his jackets pockets. 

“How do you haven’t lost me?” 

“..........because you haven’t sent me away.” Donghyuck stepped closer. You had to look up to keep eye contact. 

“I want this ....But I can’t be hurt again Hyuckie. This whole week I’ve been a mess. I don’t want to feel that again.” You looked down. Donghyuck grabbed your hands in his, grabbing you attention again. 

“I won’t. Just give me a chance to prove it.” 

You contemplated what Donghyuck said. What his friends revealed. How you felt about everything. You had your answer. 

“Hi, I’m Y/n. I’ve seen you around school and I think your really cute. Would you like to go out with me?” You eyes held hope. His face filled with mirth. 

What does ‘Being Together’ mean for you and Donghyuck?

It meant sleeping in the same crib. 

It meant saying each others name as your first words. 

It meant taking your first steps together. 

It meant celebrating your first birthdays together. Even if your birthdays were months apart

It meant ruling over the playground with and iron fist. 

It meant fighting anyone who talked against either of you. 

It meant facing the first day of school. 

It meant sitting at the same desk. 

It meant being ok with making other friends outside of each other

It meant learning to be away from each other when you split classes

It meant sneaking around to see each other between classes

It meant spending more time after school to make up for time lost in school

It meant Saturdays spent wasting away in front of the television. 

It meant oversleeping while wrapped in each other arms on Sunday mornings

It meant throwing a fit after learning you would have to spend the summer with out each other. 

It meant being glued at the hip when you returned

It meant explaining your bond to people who didn’t get it

It meant adjusting to life without each other

It meant sending Donghyuck support when he left to follow his dreams

It meant calling every now and again

It meant utilizing the technology you had at your disposal to communicate

It meant crying for him when he debuted

It meant buying every single album he participated in

It meant crying with him when he came home injured

It meant celebrating when he was finally better

It meant going to his first concert

It meant buying his merch

It meant threatening every single member of NCT to take care of him in your place

It meant staying up for every vlive

It meant befriending the dreamies

It meant being the ear to listen and the shoulder to cry on when things got too much

It meant supporting and loving him in the darkness where no one could see

Being Together with Donghyuck encompassed both of your entire lives.

“yeah.” 

“What do you have to do tomorrow.”

“I have a lunch with my mom, then I promised myself I would go to Starbucks and try that new drink. After that, I’m gonna be at home. Why?” 

“You wanna cancel all that and go out tomorrow.”

“Babe, you have practice. You’re already gonna be late cause you spent the night with me.” 

“BUT BABE!!!”

“First off, it’s too late for whining. Secondly, I am not gonna let you skip practice. Lastly, We’ll have time later.” 

“When is later? Next year!!” 

“If it is then so be it. I’m the one dating an idol. Shouldn’t I be the one complaining about not spending time together.” 

“Well when it comes to this relationship you are the rational one.”

“Ok with what?” 

“This. Dating me yet barely being able to see me.” 

“I know what I signed up for. If I remember correctly, you gave me an out before we went any further. I know you’re busy. I know you have to work and I can’t stop you from living you dream. I’ve learned to appreciate these moments. Right here and now. When you’re not a stage name, you’re just my boyfriend.”

These are the colors of your relationship with Lee Mark

Violet

On valentines day, you found a violet post-it note on your locker that read:

I’m at the place where we first met. Come find me there

A smile spread across your face as you headed to the gardens at the back of your school. The day you met Lee Mark, you were headed to the gardens to meet with your friends before school started. Only to crash into Mark and land on top of him. 

“I’m so sorry! I wasn’t looking where I was going.”

“It’s totally ok. It’s not everyday you get to crash into a pretty girl.”

It was a lame line and yes you blushed. 

When you got to the gardens, right next to the door laid your boyfriend. he was sitting on the splayed on the ground. The sight made you giggle. 

“I hope you know I’m not straddling you in the middle of school.”

“I was worth a shot.” Mark gets up and dusts himself off. “Happy Valentines Day baby!” 

Orange

You and Mark spent your anniversary the same way every year. Mark would pick you up in his car and you guys would drive to the lake front. You would pick up food on the way. When you arrived, you and Mark would climb onto the roof of the car and eat your food as the sun sets. Mark loved the way your skin looked bathed in orange light.

Lime

Mark’s favorite time to kiss you was after you ate anything with lime. Even if the flavor was tart, he loved the way your lips tasted like the fruit anytime you indulged yourself. 

Cream

You poured the cream into the pot of boiling caramel. It was Mark’s birthday and you wanted to surprise him by hand making caramels for him. No one warned you that caramels were super hard to make. You’ve burned through two attempts already. On the first one, your sugar burned. On the second one the caramels didn’t firm up. This was your last shot. If these caramels didn’t work out today, Mark was gonna have to accept his back up present.

Luckily the caramel’s did turn out ok, but you were shown up by Donghyuck would just handed Mark a watermelon. 

Aqua

Mark was a lifeguard for the summer 

Your friends challenged you to distract him from his job

All it took was you laying in the water for .2 seconds before Mark made his way over for most of his shift. 

Mark didn’t stay as a lifeguard for long

Neon Pink

Mark’s hair was pink and he had a mullet

“Please tell me it looks good. I’m really nervous about it.”

You just nodded you head and smiled. Your reaction was enough for Mark who went about his business.

That’s good, because you were worried about what would come out of you month after seeing Mark like that. 

Orchid

Mark surprised you for you birthday and took you to a garden that grew orchids. You had mentioned in passing that orchid were your favorite flower. But that was months ago. The mind Mark had impressed you everyday. 

“Having fun?” Mark caressed your shoulder. 

The Princesses Sword’s. Your personal protection detail. Hand picked by your own hand to protect you for the rest of your life. Your Sword’s were some of the best trainees the knight program could ask for. Most people thought you choose them just because of their fighting prowess, but they were wrong. You choose for different reasons

Lee Mark. Could easily be in the running for military general but he happily stayed at your side. He was ruthless in the training rings. Most wouldn’t fight him. Only those with big ego that doubted his ability did and they walked away more than bruised. On night, you were roaming the castle at night unable to sleep. You wandered around until you ended up at the training ring. Only to see a knight there practicing with a dummy, weighed down so it wouldn’t move. You stopped in your tracks, and watched as the knight moved fluidly through the motions. It was mesmerizing. 

Once the knight planted his dagger in the chest of the dummy, he turned around and bowed in your direction. You were startled, thinking how could he see you.

“I saw the light from your lantern, your highness. It’s a bit late for you to be up, is it not.” the knight addressed you. 

“I could say the same for you. Most knight in training are asleep already. Shouldn’t you be?” You said back. The knight lips quirked in the corner. 

“You are right, your highness, but I like the quiet of night. Not so much posturing out here either.” You and and knight chuckle at his admission. You step out of your hiding space and walk forward. Your eyes were locked on the dummy. The knights eyes followed you as you passed him and approached the dummy. You wrapped your hands around the dagger in its chest and pulled it out. You studied the blade and how it felt in your hands. You held it out, inspecting the shine in the moonlight. 

“Teach me how to use this.”

And it began. Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, Mark would be at the training ring around 1 am and he would train you until 4 am. Enough time to walk you back to your room without anyone’s knowledge. Mark taught you all kinds of techniques fit for a member of the royal family. Work with a dagger, a long sword and hand to hand combat. Yourself and Mark grew close becoming friends over the weeks of training before Mark allowed you to carry your own custom made dagger. The black stone gleamed in your hand. 

When your father brought you into the throne room to pick your first sword, your eyes locked on Mark and you two shared a smile.

You were seventeen when mark brought it up. 

“You want to add to my detail?? Are you not enough anymore??” You questioned as Mark lead you through the winding hallways of the castles. Mark walked tall in his Sword uniform. 

“I’ve been seeing the practices of the knights in training. I’ve also been helping. They’re is exactly four boys that I would trust with you.” You and Mark stopped at a window. Revealing the knights in training. The new crop seemed to grow more cocky by the passing year. 

“Tell me about them.” 

Mark pointed left, “Huang Renjun. Not much to look at but is hyper aware of a persons perception of him. He uses his smaller size to his advantage. Getting lower and fighting from underneath mostly succeeding. He is exceptional at canvasing a territory. I bet money he already knows fifteen ways to get into the castle without anyone being the wiser.”

Mark pointed further back, “Lee Donghyuck. A bit of a trouble maker. He’s funny. Loves playing practical jokes and is constantly late to practice. But he’s a wild card. When he’s focused on a target, he’s deadly.”

Mark points to the far right, to two knights fiddling with bottles, “Lee Jeno and Na Jaemin. Came into training together and have been inseparable their entire lives. Jaemin is very adept with poisons whether liquid or plant. Jeno is a the top of the class in healing. A duo with potential.” 

You took in the information Mark gave you before speaking, “Invite them tonight.” 

That night, you knew Mark found good people when none of them flinched when they saw you walk up in training clothes, ready for a fight. You could barely hold your smile back when your choose them to be the next four Swords.

“I want two more.” You said into the night. You and your swords sat on the ground, sweat running down your skin after a successful training. 

“Why do you want two more when you have us, your royalness??” Donghyuck wiggled his eyebrows at you. 

You rolled your eyes, “We feel incomplete. Seven is a good stopping number.” 

The six of you stood up, Your swords began the walk back to your room. 

“Who do you have in mind?” Jeno asked. 

“Zhong Chenle and Park Jisung.” you replied. 

“WHAT!!!” Jaemin and Donghyuck exclaimed. 

“But they’re the youngest of the recent class!!” Renjun pointed out as you arrivied at your bedroom door. 

“Yeah and they also are somehow good at everything. Their expertise falls under the radar because they’re so young. But I can see it. Just like I saw it with all of you. Goodnight boys.” You walked into your room and shut the door behind you. 

“What could she possibly see?” Jeno asked. 

“Potential” Mark answered.

Mark invited Chenle and Jisung to a night training with your group. The two boys looked a bit intimidated. The tension was broken when Jisung mumbled an insult about Donghyuck under his breath that cracked you up. Donghyuck charged at him which lead to chase around the training ring. 

Your swords were complete.

Mark, Donghyuck, Jaemin, Renjun, Jeno, Chenle and Jisung. The princesses Swords. Your protection detail. 

“Alright! We know the rule. We both are gonna find a costume then find each other in the store and present it for judgement, ok?” 

“Donghyuck, you already told me this last night, this morning, and in the car. I know the rules. Now are you ready to fall flat it the face of my awesome choice for couples costume.?” 

“Trust me, I’m ready to knock you choice off its feet cause mine is gonna be the best.”

“Donghyuck! I am not dressing up as Waluigi!!!!” 

“Of course you wouldn’t babe! You would be sexy Wario.........OWW!”

“Aegi, You can’t be serious??” 

“Hyuckie!! You would be cute as Harry. Especially with your glasses...” 

“You would be a terrible red head.” 

“DONGHYUCK!”

“I ONLY SPEAK THE TRUTH!!”

“I hate pink.” 

“But think of how cute we would be as Mario and Princess Peach!!” 

“One, I hate pink. Two, I hate princess peach. Three, I am much more of a Rosalina and you know it.” 

“But Roaslina doesn’t have a male counterpart!!”

“You could dress up as a Luma!” 

“......I am not dressing up as a Luma.” 

“But you’re my star.” 

“........Stop being cute to win arguments.”

“I will not dress up as something wayyyyy too overdone like a vampire.” 

“But You could dress up as Damon Salvatore and I could be your Elena.”

“That’s an excuse for you to wear your normal clothes as a costume and I WON’T STAND FOR IT!!!”

“We are never gonna agree on a costume. We might as well forfeit the competition to Renjun and his girlfriend. They’re going as Jane and Carlos from Descendants. Meanwhile we’ve been in this store for hours and haven’t found a costume.”

“Underneath this pile of wolf costumes!!! It’s perfect right?” 

“More than perfect. We already know their dance by heart and you would be a sexy Danny Zuko.”

“And you are gonna be the cutest Sandy and Danny could ever hope for.”

“We’re gonna mop the floor with Renjun’s tears.”

You HATED anything to do with post apocalyptic worlds. Universes where superheros, vampires, werewolves, fairys, hybrids and the like, you could sink your teeth into. But you came to a full stop as post apocalypse. You just couldn’t get into it.

But your best friend could.

Renjun could watch these movies for hours. Eyes transfixed on screen showing these destroyed worlds. He couldn’t get enough of them. But that’s just Renjun. Always interested in the unknown. He read books on ghost, aliens, space and the like. It was always fun to see his eye light up when he talked about another documentary that he found of aliens and space that gave him information that he didn’t have before. 

But maybe thats why you watched this stuff with him

To literally see the stars in his eyes. The wonder draw on his face. The way he leans forward in his chair, as if that would get him and closer to the action than he already was. When he grabbed you hand, as something excited happened on the screen. Renjun doesn’t let himself less as much as he should. So if you had to sit thru something that wasn’t for you just to see those shoulders relax

You would. 

“Hey are you paying attention?? You better be we got two more movies to get thru tonight.” Renjun didn’t even look at you when he spoke but he didn’t grab your hand, tangling your fingers together.

In the present, a smile would break out on your face every time you turned to the back of the cafe and saw Donghyuck quietly doing his homework with a special made coffee right next to him

In the present, you constantly spent the night in his dorm room.

In the past, the thought of kissing Donghyuck was repulsive

In the present, you felt your self melt into Donghyuck arms as he kissed you expertly.

In the past, Donghyuck wasn’t your first love. 

“You can’t just switch your feelings on and off. It’s impossible.”

“I wasn’t impossible for Damon Salvatore.” 

“I don’t think Damon Salvatore is a good example when you put into account what he did while his feelings were on.” 

You and your friends Marnie had this debate everyday at lunch. Ever since you met him.

Him being the object of your hidden affection, Lee Jeno. He had stolen your attention since you bumped into each other four months ago. Since that day, you saw him everywhere. You couldn’t help but stop and stare. I mean look at that face, the eye smile, the muscles. Everything about was picture perfect except one thing.

No matter how many girls came up to him and confessed, he always responded with the same answer....

“Sorry but I’m not interested.” 

At this point it had run around school that Jeno wasn’t for dating at all. Making the lunchroom confession slow to a halt and shattering your chances of being with him. After word spread of Jeno countless rejections, you told your friend that you were gonna shut your feeling off about Lee Jeno and move forward. Move forward to hopelessly pining in the safety of your room alone. 

“I’m just saying it doesn’t hurt to talk to the guy. Because all he is, is a guy!” Marnie stabbed her salad for emphasis. 

“Yeah a guy doesn’t date. I useless. Why even do it just to get rejected?” You glanced at the table containing Jeno and his friends.

“At least then, you’ll really be able to shut you feeling off. Because you’ll know he doesn’t have feelings for you.” You don’t speak after Marnie’s harsh words. You both silently eat your lunches until the sounds in the cafeteria quiet like someone important just walked in. You were busy finishing up you math homework when Marnie yanked at your hand. You looked up, ready to yell at her, but Marnie’s attention is behind you. Her eyes are wide with surprise. You try to ask whats up but a tap on your shoulder stops you. 

You turn and all you see is chest. When you glance up, you choke on your spit. Because the face connected to the chest was Lee Jeno. Jeno sat down next you and patted you back. 

“Are you ok?” Jeno asked, looking concerned. 

“Ye *cough* Yeah, I’m fine. Did you need something?” You ask. Jeno looks over your shoulder at his friends. They urge him with hands to continue. When you turn around they stop and look any where else but your table. You turned back around to Jeno, wringing his hands together. 

“I’m gonna say this kinda fast so bare with me. Last night, my friends and I were playing truth or dare. I lost my dare and the punishment was to confess to someone I like. So here I am.” Jeno smile nervously, while your brain short circuts.

‘OMG SPEAK Y/n!!!’ Marnie’s voice screamed in your head. 

“Uhh....You like me?” 

Jeno’s eyes lit up,”Yeah, I tried to get info on your from Jisung when you started tutoring him but he wouldn’t budge. Said He wanted to keep the nice noona to himself.” You both chuckled. In the back of your mind, you needed clarification on one more thing. 

“Wait, So am I the reason you won’t date anyone?” You asked.

“Yeah, I didn’t want you to think I liked anyone so when I finally did this, you would believe me.” Jeno glanced over your shoulder again, “So what do you say?” Jeno looked into eyes, hopeful. You made him wait. 

Sometime walking around school you felt stranded on your own island, all alone. 

Nobody really talked to you. Not because you were weird or anything, they didn’t notice you. You always fell under the radar of everyone else. 

You mostly liked it that way but every once in a while, it bothered you. 

Like today....

It was announced a week ago that the annual Halloween dance was coming up. For the entire week, girls and guys were vying for dates with their perfect person. You didn’t. You planned to use that night to binge a one season anime. 

“I really wish you would go. We would have fun!” Your only friend Kasey pleaded with you. She got a date on Wednesday. She was going with Lee Jeno and joining in with his friends group.

“Kasey I already told you. I’m not gonna show up to a dance where I don’t have a date. Beside, it’s not like I’m gonna be hurting for something to do. I’m watching that anime and by time you get home from the dance, I’ll be ready to talk your ear off about everything that happened.” You closed your locker and turned to Kasey. You both began walking home. Kasey still begged you to go but you wouldn’t budge. She gave up once you made it your house. The two of your parted ways. 

The next day, you were bombarded with texts from Kasey asking for advice on dresses. A couple of times she asked you what dress you liked. You really didn’t know why though, you weren’t going to the dance. As nighttime fell, Kasey stopped texting and began getting ready. Two hours later a picture came thru on your phone. 

It was of Kasey and Jeno posed together. They looked great. You were happy for Kasey. She had a crush on Jeno for the longest. 

You look fantastic!! Have fun! You texted back. You were going to start your entertainment for the night when your mom called you downstairs to open the door. You walked over to the door and opened it to reveal Na Jaemin. 

The Na Jaemin standing in formal wear on your porch. 

“Jaemin, what are you doing here?” A limo sat behind him. Jaemin looked nervous about something. Before you could ask whats wrong, Jaemin looked you in the eye and spoke. 

“Y/n? I’m sorry for not doing this during the week. I, yes me, have a hard time approaching you. I hope I’m not interrupting but I wanted to know if you would go to the dance with me?” Jaemin smiles shyly.

Alright! Two things. First of all, Jaemin found it hard to approach you!! The Na Jaemin. The guys of every girls dreams. Second of all, That same Na Jaemin just asked you to the Halloween dance. The same dance that starts in thirty minutes. 

“I-I have nothing to wear.” 

“That’s where I come in.” Leave it to your best friend to scheme behind you back. Kasey walked to the front door, the dress you gave approval to in her hands. Jeno followed behind with her makeup case.

“With my insider knowledge, I found out that Jaemin was crushing on my best friend. I convince him that my friend and object of his affection would be sitting at home alone while the rest of the student body had fun at the dance. So I had Jeno give Jaemin enough confidence to ask you. My part was finding a dress and luckily you and I are the same size.” Kasey smirks at you and you could help but smile. You waved Kasey and the boys in. You and Kasey walked off to your room to get you ready. 

Somehow, in twenty minutes, Kasey worked her magic and you were ready. The dress you picked was gorgeous and fulfilled your inner witches expectations. When you walked in behind Kasey, Jaemin was speechless. Kasey and Jeno walked out the door, giving the two of you a moment alone. 

“You.....you look fantastic.” Jaemin said breathlessly. 

You felt the blush rushing to you cheeks, “Thanks, you the good too. And thanks for asking me.” 

Jaemin nodded with a blinding smiles. He offered you an arm and you placed your hand in it. As you walked to the front door of your house, You spoke again. 

“You know you don’t have to be afraid to talk to me. I like a confident guy.” 

“Our loves limit does not exist.” 

The quote you both loved to use since the first time you forced Jaemin to sit down and watch Mean Girls with you. After the iconic line was said, Jaemin turned to you and said,

“You know what limit really doesn’t exist?” 

“What?”

“Our loves limit.”

In that moment, you cringed but now, years later, you saw just how right Jaemin was all those years ago.

You and Jaemin defended each other on the playground when other children dared to poke fun at either of you. 

You both always exchanged the best presents at each others birthdays. The best one being promise bracelets. They are a mainstay on both of your wrists. For your friendship, it meant we will be friends forever. For your relationship, it meant I’ll be by your side forever and always. 

When you played your first volleyball game, Jaemin was their with a massive sign the obstructed the view of too many people. 

You always dropped off homemade food for Jaemin when he was volunteering. 

When Jaemin got scouted, you helped Jaemin prepare for his audition. He tried to get you to come along too but the volleyball court was your home. 

You spent the night at Jaemin’s house before his audition with SM, to calm his nerves and to make sure he looked good too. 

You cried for him when he made it thru. You cried again when he came home with his back injury. 

During his injury, Jaemin would accompany you to volleyball practice and sit in the bleachers until practice was over so you could go home together. 

You were there for Jaemin surgery. Never leaving the hospital until he woke up. 

You were there for every rehab session. For every tear of frustration that was shed, you wiped away. 

Jaemin helped you write you college entrance essay and hugged you impossibly tight when you got in. 

You cried seeing Jaemin first performance back. He face timed you after your college volleyball team won the championship. 

Back and forth, push and pull, the love you and Jaemin shared had no bounds. 

It didn’t matter how much you saw each other. 

It didn’t matter that he was a superstar artist. 

It didn’t matter that you were in school

All that mattered was the two of you. 

A kiss being pressed to you cheek brought you back to the present. Your apartment on the night of you and Jaemin’s five year anniversary of dating. Jaemin had worked his butt of to get the time off to see you and the both of you were enjoying it. 

You looked up and Jaemin smile was the first thing your eyes landed on. 

“What are you thinking about over their?” Jaemin brought you to his chest. Just like he’s always done since third grade. It was safe and familiar. 

“Just think about how you describe our love.” You glance up. His full attention on you.

“And how do I describe our love?” Jaemin leaned closer.

In the supernatural world, being human was the weirdest thing possible. 

Not your boyfriend it wasn’t. For your boyfriend, you being alive was one of the things that attacked him to you. 

You see your boyfriend was alive. He wasn’t dead either. He was somewhere in between. He was a vampire. He was turned two years ago, by his best friend, so he could spend the rest of his life twenty years old with the rest of his friends. 

One day while you were seated on his bed, a bed he only got for you, you asked him,

“What do you find attractive about me?” 

And boy did he answer...

He grabbed your hands, “You never realize how much you miss the warmth of hands until you don’t have it anymore. The first time I held you hand, I felt like melting. I still think I could hold your hand forever because the warmth emanating from your hands is addictive.”

He caresses your lips, “Things don’t taste the same when your what I am. They taste duller. If you survive long enough as a vampire, food becomes irrelevant. But every time I see you take a bite out of anything, I see you light up. I constantly want to see that face when you taste something you’ve fallen in love with.”

He runs a finger around your ear, “I wish i could hear everything. Even the most observant person can’t hear what I can. I can her Mark playing his guitar. I can hear Jeno and Jaemin fighting in the kitchen. I can hear the brushes strokes Renjun is making. I can hear Chenle and Jisung outside the door.” You hear footsteps run down the hall. You both burst in laughter. “But you. You can only hear me and nothing else. I wish I could only focus on you.” 

His hands guide you to sit in his lap, your back to his chest. He wraps his arms around your middle and rest you hands on top. He leans closer until his nose is barely touching the juncture where your neck and shoulder meets. He runs his nose up down before moving his lips closer to your ear, forcing a shiver to run down your spine. 

“I wish I didn’t hear how fast your heart is beating. I wish I couldn’t hear the blood running thru your veins. I wish that the smell of your perfume was the only thing that enticed me. But it isn’t. I smell your blood. And I want it so bad.” He places a kiss on the shell of your ear, eliciting another shivers. 

Your thumb runs across the top of his hand, “Do you ever regret it. Having Mark turn you?” 

Your boyfriend is silent for a second. You turn around in his hold. You’re chest t chest now. You wrap your legs around his waist and lace your hands together behind his head. His hands move to your waist. You lean in, pecking him on the lips before he speaks up. 

“No. I can’t imagine my life without the people in the house right now. When Mark got turned we all made the decision right then and there to never leave him. We didn’t want to. I love my family and that,” He boops your nose, “includes you.” His arms bring you closer as he leans back into the pillows. 

The room got quiet as you contemplated all the things your boyfriend said. For a year, you’ve been with him, but their still seemed like their was a block between you. The known facts. He was a vampire that would live forever. You were a human that would age and one day not be by his side. The thought of him alone left you unsettled. And all the thing your boyfriend said, just confirmed what you already wanted.

(This could kind of be a continuation or other side story to my other 31 Days of Resonance post for Day 14 - Autumn. But anyway enjoy!!)

When he left, he brought pieces of her with him

He wanted her to tell him to stay 

At the same time

He really wanted to go

But he had to make sure she would be ok

He had to block out the sight of unshed tears in her eyes as he boarded the plane

He had to fight the urge to run back out and never leave her side

But he wanted this

He wanted so bad

He had a picture of her in his phone

not on the home screen or anything 

Just in his photo album

A picture of her, bright smile on her face and his hat on her head

She look beautiful

He only looked at it when he wanted to remind himself of what was waiting for him

The first plushie he had on his bed was a bear

A bear that had seen some things

The bear was tattered and torn. 

It had weathered storms

The bear had stuffing peeking out of holes

The bear should have been thrown away

But he couldn’t do it

It was the first present he got from her

his favorite shirt was worn constantly

to practice and around the dorm

He didn’t wash it a lot because it wasn’t just his

Whenever she spent the night, she wore that shirt to sleep in

For the first couple of months, he would hold the shirt up to his nose 

Just to breathe in the familiar scent

Until it faded away

Now a days its worn just to be close to the person who wasn’t

He called almost every week

a couple times a month

every once in a while

on a special occasion

He was good.

He was practically bouncing on the plane home

He probably ran over what he want to say a million times

He got advice from his leader

He was ready to see her again

For all his planning, nothing could prepare him for seeing her again

For hearing her tears

For feeling her in him arms again

It was too much 

for both of them

And as they sank to the floor, tears pouring out of their eyes

A thought came to his mind

You didn’t know why you were here.

Why did you let your friends talk you into this?

Why were you dressed at of Buttercup from the PPG was dropped into the Vampire Diaries?

Oh yeah because your friends thought it would be cute to mashup costumes from your favorite childhood show and favorite show period. 

Now here you stood in a sea of people who barely knew you, in a kinda skimpy outfit and your were this close to bolting out of the room

Until he waltzed in. 

Lee Donghyuck or to the whole school Lee Haechan. The irresistible and unattainable guy on campus. Girls loved him and guys hated him but everyone wanted to be around him. Including you.

You have had your eye on him since he winked at while passing in the hallway. Yes that was all it took to fall but in your defense, girls have no less than fainted at that wink so you were ahead of the pack. 

You always observed him for afar. Being a quiet person had its advantages and knowing the best hiding spaces. You were able to see the different side of Haechan. You got to see Donghyuck. The Donghyuck that was surpirsingly good at school. The Donghyuck that cared about his friend no matter how much he teased them. The Donghyuck that was born to hold a mic in his hand. The Donghyuck that was standing in front you.........

Wait.

What was that last sentence.....

THE DONGHYUCK STANDING IN FRONT OF YOU!!!

You snapped out of your inner monologue to meet Donghyuck eyes. His eyes felt like they were boring into your own. You took a sip of you drink just to escape them

“Ummm...Hi?” You squeaked. The sound making Donghyuck’s lip quirk up. 

“Hey, You’re Y/N right? From 7th period math.” He inched forward and your back hit the wall. 

“UHhh Yeah I am but I’m surprise you recognize me.” You spied him leaning a shoulder on the wall, boxing you in but giving you a way out. 

“Why wouldn’t I recognize you?” Haechan sounded confused. 

You gestured to your outfit, “Cause I’m dressed like this?” 

Haechan rolled his eyes, “First of all, you fantastic. My eyes immediately locked on you when I walked in. And that is a good thing. It means, for me, you’re the hottest one here.” Haechan brought his hand to your head, tucking hair under your ear. Running a finger down the side of your face to the underside of your chin. His finger lifted you head up, eyes locking on each other. 

“Secondly, How would I not notice you. Y/N, with the sweet smile. Y/N with cute nose. Y/N with the lips that form the most adorable pout when your focused on something. Y/n who walks around in the most simple of outfits, the sight of you taking my breath away every time. Y/n the girl I’m so curious about, that I walk across campus every week just to get a glimpse of her before heading home....” You tuned out as Haechan kept revealing secrets to you. Secrets about his feelings for you. Secret that made your inner voice scream with happiness. 

“Y/n the girl I really wish would go out on a date with me so I can get to know her.” Haechan grabbed your hand, “So what do you say?”

The big masquerade dance was coming up at your school. The student council conducted compatibility tests to match people up with dates for the dance. According to your test, you and your partner would receive matching masks. You mission was to find your matching while at the dance. Some people were excited, some were annoyed but most were ready to dance the night away with a mystery person that matched well with them. 

Your friends had dared you to fill out the test because they all had dates and they didn’t want you to go alone. They got even worse when you had opted to not go, outright forcing you to fill out form. The entire test was stupid and a waste of your time. How would you find someone with questions like:

With three words, describe your perfect date?

What four qualities do you want a guy/girl to have?

On a scale of one to ten how would you rate yourself?

What word(s) would your friends use to describe you?

You finish the questionnaire like you had a five page essay due in two hours and now here you stood. In a fancy dress and way to high heels that your parents sent you. They know you rarely go to dances so they went all out. You stood at the edge of the action. You watched your friends dance the night away with their boyfriends, looking as happy as can be. 

Sometimes you looked around for your matching mask. The one you wore was black lace. You barely thought it would hold together but it molded to your face. The edges of it made it look like a butterfly. The student council showed you the matching mask, a harder looking mask that had lace patterned on it. It was solid black. Among the sea of mask, you wondered if you would ever see your matching mask. 

You felt your skin heat up, so you stepped outside into the cool air of fall. It was a bit chilly but you weren’t freezing yet. You walked around, seeing some party goers sitting down and quietly talking with their dates. Taking some time away to get to know each other. The wind blew again causing goose bumps to rise on the surface of your skin. You tried to rub them away but then and jacket was placed on your shoulders. You turned around and saw the matching mask you weren’t looking for(not.).

“Found you, finally.” He smiled at you. 

“I guess you did.” 

He rubbed the back of his neck, “Yeah I saw you from across the floor and tried to catch you before you walked out but I didn’t want to seem creepy. But then I thought that they point of the dance was to find someone but I didn’t want to ruin your alone time. If that’s what you wanted but then I saw you were cold and... now were here.” He spoke so fast that you could barley keep up but from what you could catch, his rambling was pretty cute. 

“Well thank you for thinking of my awkwardness but you could have approached me. I guess you could say I was looking for you too.” You said to the masked boy, trying to appear cool (The blush gave you away). He laughed at your response and stuck his hand out. 

“Hi, I’m Jisung and you are?” You grabbed his hand and shook it. 

“NO! REINA! STOP RUNNING. WHERE ARE YOU GOING!!!” You were screaming after your familiar, a baby lioness, as she ran away from you. You didn’t know what or where she was running to but you urged your feet to keep moving. 

Everyone, by the time they are born, are destined to have a animal familiar that helps them find their soulmate. The gender of your familiar matches you but the animal breed matches your soulmate. Your familiars will immediately recognize each other which would lead you to the person your meant to spend the rest of you life with. 

When you woke up at age three with a baby lion in your bed snuggled next to your sleeping form, you almost freaked out. But the more time you spent with the lioness, named Reina, you saw how loyal she was to you and how protective. If anyone messed with you, they would be scared by the fully developed growl from the small body. The sound alone enough to scare the meanest bully on a good day. 

As you grew older and took Reina for walks most days, Reina would sometime grow antsy when you passed a arcade where some of the popular kids from your school hung out. You always tried to help Reina when she got like this. It was like she knew your soulmate was near but she couldn’t figure out where. Until now. 

You finally caught up to the lion standing in front of the arcade as if waiting for you. Once Reina saw you, she marched in. Pushing past patrons as if to say, ‘Do you not see me? Move!’ You follow her in, apologizing to people for Reina. The lioness made her way upstairs, stalking her prey. When you notice the staff only sign, you rushed behind her. By the time you grabbed Reina, the workers up their saw you.

“Hey did you not see the sign, This is a staff only area.” One of the seven guys pointed out. 

“How are you even talking like all of us work here, Chenle. Only Mark Hyung works here.” One of the boys points out. 

“Yeah Sungie but she didn’t know that.” The boys around Chenle hushed him and continued to stare at something by your feet. A soft head butted into your ankle. You placed Reina down when you saw the soft black eyes of a cat staring back at you. You tickled under the kittens chin and the cat licked your palm. 

“Aren’t you cute?” You picked up the kitten, not noticing Reina wandering over to the only boy in the arcade uniform. You looked up from the kitten face and stared at the boys. 

“What?” All six boys turned their gaze to the boy dressed in uniform. The boy was cute, soft smile and kind eyes. He looked surprised but happy as he picked up Reina. Reina never warmed up to people quickly. The only person she would do that for would be.....

Your brain blanked out before rebooting at the kitten licks under your chin. The boy walked over to you, Reina sitting comfortably in his strong arms. He walked up to you and scratched at the kitten ears. The kitten purred in response. 

“Hi, I’m Mark,” He pointed at the kitten in your arms, “That’s King and it looks like I’m your soulmate. Nice to finally meet you.” Mark smiled at you and you swear you felt your heart stutter at the sight. 

At and early age everyone is taught that nightmares and dreams mean more than they are. You see, in this world everyone has a soulmate. And when you are away from that soulmate, you have nightmares. The nightmare are of real events that your soulmate has gone thru. When you get closer, you start to get dreams. The dreams start out abstract, you can’t really see them. Then they start to clear up, like your putting on glasses. 

At age 5, you had a nightmare about some random guy getting taken by a stranger while a women yells in the background. 

At age 10, you had a nightmare of the same boy hiding from a woman with a scary face and red glowing eyes.

At age 13, you had another nightmare. The boy, you started to refer to him as Mark, was walking down a street. The houses started to close in around him. Shrieks and cries sounded around him. Fog poured out of windows and doors. Zombies rose from the ground. Monsters flooded the streets and no matter how much Mark ran, he could escape them. 

The nightmares stopped for a while after that. You had finally done some research and found out that you were dreaming about Mark’s real life, exaggerated. You wondered if the boy was ok. You pondered about what real life events did you have the translated to nightmares for your soulmate. You apologized when the thought crossed your mind.

At age 16, You had dream for the first time. You were walking thru a meadow. A thin layer of fog covered the ground. You walk forward, inching closer to the tree line. You felt compelled to do so. As you walked closer, you noticed that you had no idea where you were going but your feet did. As you stepped further into the tree, you strides sped up. You started jogging then you started running. Your eyes caught someone in the corner of you vision. It was like you were in a race. As soon as your eyes meet, you both stopped. You stared each other down for a while. Then you tired to take a step toward this person. Before you could, you woke up. 

 At age 18, your first night in your new dorm room, you had another dream. The college campus was eerily quiet. But you weren’t afraid. As you walked to your dorm rooms building, you slowly started to feel you hand in someone else’s. Getting closer the hand switched to your waist. Your shoulder landing in someone chest. You wrapped an arm around the stranger. This should be weird but you self safe with whoever it was. Like you knew them. You arrived at you dorm room and the hands disappeared. When you turned around. The person, a boy, materialized in front of you. You couldn’t see his face and you guessed he could see yours. You both reached out to grab a hand but once again before you could, you woke up. 

Months later, you had your last dream. It was dark. You were walking up a staircase. On the wall, you found a sign the said you were heading to the roof. As you approached the door, you glanced down to see yourself in a dress. You opened the door, to a beautiful view of the city. The lights were on and the occasional sound of a car zooming past played in your ear. In front of you was a dinner table, set for two. You smiled and walked forward. You took a seat and waited until the sound of steps came from behind the door. The door open to reveal the same boy from your dream months ago. You could see he was in a tuxedo. He looked good but you still couldn’t see his face. As he walked closer, his face began to clear up until he was standing right in front of you. Your smiled widened. He pulled out out of your chair by your hands. He smiled back at you.

You woke up in a bed that wasn’t your own. All you remember was falling asleep while working on a project with your partner. As stretched you began to remember what you just saw, realization entered your subconscious. You ran out the room only to be met by the face in your dream. The face of your project partner. 

“Its you.” You whispered.

“Its you.” Mark said back in a low voice.
