I didn’t realize there was a bird’s nest in here until I saw the photo! I was out on a walk and took a quick pic of the sunlight through the leaves.
Catalpas are blooming!
Some friends on a mock orange 🐞
At this year’s swap, I brought like five pots of feverfew, and mom heard a woman hyping it up to someone else saying she loved hers from last year. Might have been mine or another person’s, but it just goes to show how plants transform beyond our knowing. You might be part of someone’s garden tradition!

Didn’t take any pictures from the annual plant swap, but it was hotter than expected with more direct sun right in the morning. Didn’t have as many conversations as I’d like, but it was so encouraging to see all my stuff go! I brought:
Pumpkins
Decorative gourds
Carnival Squash
Beans that claimed they were bush beans but definitely were climbers
Rose of Sharon from last year that never got planted where we thought it would
Weeping willow starts. I only brought four because they’re trees, after all, but who knows! I might have given someone shade in 20 years.
Pots of chives. Ever so many chives.
At least five flats of dill. Just an extraordinary amount of dill. All of it went! I was actually a little embarrassed by how much I brought and it was all appreciated!
Lemon cat mint
Lemon balm
Peppermint
Anise hyssop
Those last four I should have brought more of. Mint was VERY popular this year. But it just goes to show you that you can absolutely share a lot of joy by gathering things from your yard that have reseeded. Houseplants were also appreciated. Perennials absolutely flew out, too. Didn’t see as many lilies and iris divides, though.
And at the end of the day after closing, there was only a pot of Rose of Sharon and some sad decorative grass left. I took the grass, seeing as we don’t have any place for more bushes, and if I can get it looking nice someone else might want it around here.
Happy plant swap season! 🌱🌱🌱
Life? In MY geraniums? It’s more likely than you think.
(We tried overwintering these to uuuuuh some kind of success, but we’ll see!)

A very old tree that has hollowed over the years.
A horde of gourds! (and squash)
I could start a modest pickle operation with how many dill I saved!
I understand the philosophy behind no mow May, I do, but I really can't get behind it. It's still a lawn, you'd likely be much better off transforming it into a space that holds mostly native plants, you're going to put it back to a manicured space anyhow, yadda yadda.
The height of my concern (ha) really lies in safety. Can you see a toddler, a dog, etc., when backing up your car? Does the height of your lawn prevent you from reacting quickly to something suddenly there? There are many reasons why HOAs and town laws make you maintain your lawn! Please be careful!
