Daniel Grey

         𝐬𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 a blushing smile, he was too kind. ❝ i appreciate you saying that very deeply, thank you. ❞ tanya added, nodding her head at his compliment. most would consider revealing fears as a vampire, would make you appear weak or in the least, flawed. his comment made her take a step back and respect that aspect of herself to which she was very grateful.

her thoughts were interrupted as the CLAPPING thunder suddenly went silent and cracks in the clouds began open up to display a thousand rays of sunshine, beaming through. touching small corners of the landscape never revealing too much. her eyes were sparkling* at such a sight, the beautiful transition gave her peace and she blinked once or twice to be sure of what she was seeing. he spoke up and it dawned on her. ( he was gifted ). her eyes settled on him once more and she was struck with disbelief. ❝ it’s BREATHTAKING… ❞ she paused, stuck in a trance by him before unlocking eyes and looking out to the illusion. ❝ i don’t mean to be rude or dismiss this kind gesture but… your gift is immense. what is it exactly that you do ? how am i seeing this right now ? ❞ thoughts of the volturi slowly entered her mind and she couldn’t avoid thinking of if they knew about his gift, ABOUT HIM. how hard it would be for him. her heart yearned to keep him safe, but she hadn’t a clue why. she had never doubted it once before and she wouldn’t start now.

He smiled, as he could see what he was projecting into her mind, maneuvering some clouds to part so that the sun would shine on Tanya to the extent where she should have been able to feel the comforting warmth on her face. The way that she looked when she turned back to him, and the way that her eyes sparkled with happiness and brightness, was proof enough for him to know that he had done the right thing in trusting her as he revealed his ability. He chuckled gently and smiled at Tanya’s expression, seeing that she seemed to calm down now that the thunder and lightning were out of her mind. 

“I’m just glad that you are calmer now... no one should be forced to stay in a place where they feel uncomfortable, not when there is something that I can do about it.” The truth was, Daniel wouldn’t have created this illusion for just anyone, but he felt the need to take away as much of Tanya’s pain and discomfort as he could. “I don’t know how to explain it... I found out I could do this a while after I turned and it took me a long time to be able to master it. I can project images into anyone’s mind. What you’re seeing isn’t real but because I’m projecting it to you, it makes you feel like this is all happening in real life.” He walked closer to her and watched her line of sight, making a couple of butterflies fly through the area where she was looking, all in an effort to make that smile reappear on her face. 

“OH.” bree dared a glance around the little diner, surprised to see it practically full. “okay then.” she murmured, absently pushing her food back and forth across her plate but never actually taking a bite. “take your time. i don’t mind.” she said, though the tremble in her voice made it clear the sentiment was far from genuine. the little brunette simply had no desire to piss anyone off. especially not a guy like the one sat across from her.

She seemed scared, or nervous, or possibly both. Which made Daniel wonder if she knew anything about the supernatural, though he doubted it. “I can drink this really fast so don’t even worry about it, just forget that I’m here,” Daniel said, taking the defensive stance when it came to this seemingly nervous girl. He could hear the tremble in her voice as she replied to him and it made him curious about what she was scared of. For all intents and purposes, he was trying his best to act human, and for the most part he was pretty sure he was doing a good acting job. 

           𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐬 and a gentle kiss as light as a feather was placed on her cool skin and she fought hard to contain her GLEE with a giggle. “ oh believe me, the circumstances pale in comparison to meeting a cute stranger. ” she had already released her second flirtation on the man and there were no signs of stopping. throwing her golden locks over her shoulder, the smile forever stained on her lips. “ why thank you… ” if she could, she’d blush. “ i’m afraid so. ” tanya paused, throwing her gaze at the skies above. THUNDER crackling throughout the land, made her flinch once more. she felt like a fool, showing such fear and cowardliness in front of another at the natural occurrence, not at all foreign to their location. “ it’s embarrassing to admit, but i don’t like storms. ” she took a glance at the ground, in shame. still never letting up on her charms all the while, as she looked up at him through her luscious lashes. if she was going to play damsel in distress, might as well do it right. 

Daniel chuckled, she was definitely outspoken, which was something that he hadn’t seen in someone for a very long time. Usually if he was at a bar and a girl complimented him, they were shy and attempting to get him to compliment them without him seeing any particular reason why he should. With Tanya, it was like he could look at her and a thousand compliments would pop into his mind. Daniel looked up when the thunder caused her to noticeably flinch, thinking about whether he should trust this girl and use his gift. “You shouldn’t be embarrassed, everyone has fears. It’s actually refreshing to meet a vampire who will admit to their fears.” One more look at her and he felt like he could, so he visualized a bright sky, with sun beams dancing around and projected it into her mind so that she could see it too. “It’s not real...” he said, warning her before she felt like she could run out into the sun and inevitably get even more wet because the rain was there “But I thought you’d feel a little more at ease if I blocked out all the thunder.” 

             𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐮𝐛𝐮𝐬❜ 𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐮𝐩 𝐚𝐬 𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐩𝐬 approached her from behind. she felt a tingle up her spine and she furrowed her brow. she spun cautiously on her heel to see who had joined her underneath the metal safe haven. as soon as her eyes landed on his kind face, she smiled BRIGHTLY. biting her lip softly she took a step closer, recognizing his PALE features and golden hues. ❝ looks like… i’m tanya. ❞ she announced, her grin never dimming as his presence took her by surprise. handsome devil. a hand reached out to make contact in gesture of respect. well that and she wanted to lay some kind of hand on him. ❝ forgive me, i must look dreadful. i’m not quite fond of the weather when it’s as rough as this. ❞ searching for a compliment, she took one step closer. the small overhead sheet was big enough, but that didn’t stop her from pretending it was two feet wide. 

The first thing he noticed was her beauty, followed by her golden eyes. Her golden hair, although damp from the rain looked beautiful and he couldn’t stop simply looking at her. With a smile, with anyone else he probably would have resorted to a hand shake, but that didn’t seem fitting for the beauty in front of him, so when he got close enough and her hand was extended, he took it so that he could place a kiss on the back of it. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Tanya. I only wish it were under better circumstances.” he said, looking out at the rain that seemed to only get stronger. He shook his head, “You look beautiful. And, is that why you were standing in the corner like that when I found you?” he asked, already thinking of ways that he could ease her fear. 

          𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐬𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐝 𝐮𝐩𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐚 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐬𝐡 𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐩, hardly giving tanya any slack for her sensitive hearing. if it wasn’t for her FEAR of thunderstorms, she wouldn’t have flinched every time the water met with concrete, nor the thunder rumbling up above. —strange how this near indestructible creature could be afraid of such a thing. tanya stood underneath an awning, the closest one to her, trying to hide out from the downpour. downside of living in forks, there was no sun, so an abundance of clouds were easy to find. figures some would hold water, waiting to shower the earth at any second. the vampire h u g g e d herself as she looked up at the grey overcast. ❝ ugh, damn rain… ❞

Daniel hadn’t been paying much attention to the dark clouds that had been looming over Forks for the past few hours as he walked around the forest, trying to get better acquainted with the area without having to interact with too many people just yet. When it started to rain he looked for shelter where he could wait the storm out, and the only place he could find was that little roof of metal awning covering a patch of dry earth. He got himself there and ran his hand through his hair to shake off any excess water droplets, before he noticed there was someone else seeking shelter from the storm. He couldn’t see her face yet, but he knew she was a vampire - something that made it even more confusing for him as he saw she seemed to be in distress. “Looks like I wasn’t the only one taken by surprise in this storm... I’m Daniel.” he said, introducing himself, hoping that she would turn so he could see the face of the person it looked like he was going to be with for a while, riding the storm out in the little covering. 

BREE hummed to herself contentedly as she picked at the burger and chips on the table before her. it was nothing more than a quick meal before she scurried home, but still she relished every bite. there was a time, not at all long ago when this simple meal would have been a feast to her. a spark of wariness flashed in her brown eyes when a figure approached her. “this seat is uh-” before she could think of a polite way to tell them to leave her alone, they’d already slid into the seat opposite her. “taken.” she mumbled to herself.

Daniel got into the seat, drinking a soda so that he could blend in without actually having to stomach human food that no longer tasted very appealing to him. “Sorry. The guy at the counter said any chair is a free for all cause of how packed it is today. All I want is to finish this drink then I’ll be out of your hair.” he said, shrugging as he continued to drink and look at his phone so that she wouldn’t feel like he was bugging her or going to interrupt her meal. 

            she likes them OLD.  heidi had decided that long ago, early into her years of being a vampire.  their blood aged, tasted like fine wine.  so she didn’t mind having to seduce and play a bit, if it meant a delectable meal.  the woman runs a hand over the arm thrown loosely around her neck, unnaturally blue hues surveying the bar around them.  it was busier than she expected  ––  especially in a town like forks.  she briefly wondered if the man in HER grasp had a family.  the thought, as soon as it came, vanished.  it wasn’t like she actually CARED.  her gaze meets another’s, giving her pause. red-painted lips slid back into a display of pearly whites, more a baring of teeth than a real smile.  territorial.  possessive.  animalistic.

“arnold,” she purrs, pulling the elderly man behind her through the parting crowd.  “I’d like you to meet a friend…”

They’d never met, and so Daniel didn’t know why she was calling him a friend. Still, the fact that she was flaunting the kill that would eventually happen to the poor guy who was encased in her hold, didn’t exactly appeal to him. He didn’t think that the guy deserved the end that was soon coming, and wasn’t sure if he wanted to stick around to watch it happen. 

“Daniel.” he said, introducing himself to the woman, before looking at the enamoured expression on her victim’s face. “Wouldn’t it be more humane... no pun intended, to snap his neck and be done with it?” 

“Uh, the bar is closed- I guess the waitress forgot to lock the door, but this place has been closed for like… an hour,” It was a small town. Normally, they didn’t need to lock the door. Normally the person coming in late was a regular they’d serve regardless. The dive bar didn’t have any strict rules really. “Do you need me to call you a cab? I can serve you an easy drink if you have cash but I’m not turning on the machines again,”

There was a slight flaw in the logic of the place being closed and her being there when it was evident from what she’d said that she wasn’t a waitress herself. “Thanks but I’ll just get myself a drink and leave the cash by the register.” he said, not wanting to inconvenience the woman as he walked behind the counter and looked through what was available. It wasn’t much, but Daniel was still able to find some whiskey. “If this place is closed and there aren’t any waitresses... what are you doing here?”
