oh and you’re probably upset over the dumbest thing too. maybe he has you sit in his office during a super long service. you promised him you could sit still for a few hours without freaking out, but he should have known better. it hits the three hour mark and you’re whining loud enough for everyone to hear you from the other side of the door. carmy steps in the second syd agrees to finish off his prep.

“hey, hey— what’s up, what’s wrong? got everybody worried about you out there.” you don’t even let him put a period at the end of his sentence before you’re talking. “i’m bored! i’m bored, and you said it wouldn’t take long! and you won’t even let me help, ‘nd there’s nothing to do! i— i wanna go home, dad, i—”

you let out a growly whine that lets carmy know you’re close to freaking out, and he’s instantly sitting down in his office chair to pull you into his lap. you don’t go down without a fight, still complaining and hitting at his arms, trying to squirm off of his lap. “alright, alright— relax, take a second. know you wanna go home, i’m tryna get the fuck out of here too. you gotta give me some time, alright?”

you’re definitely still upset, of course— but his thumb stroking over your cheek helps to calm you down, even by a little. “… ‘kay, dad,” you murmur reluctantly.
