I don't know what to think anymore. Is DM one-sided after all?
Okay, lovely anon, let's go!
No, I don't think it's one-sided. Daniel clearly struggles with his feelings for Armand already, and that's without him having all his memories back. We don't know how much he remembers, and how much he's keeping to himself, and also how much he isn't sure is real, and we'll probably learn more of that in the future.
Right now, yes, the balance tips heavily on Armand's side, because he has all the information, and Daniel doesn't (and whose fault is that!). So yeah, I do believe right now Armand is way more in love with Daniel than Daniel is with him, for a variety of reasons. But Daniel is clearly struggling so much, the yearning is insane and so, so unbalancing for him.
"I want to give you half your life back." -- Dannyboy Molloy will get a 666TB zip folder uploaded into his brain, all original '70s and '80s content, remastered into 4k and full technicolour with surround sound!
"I will never love--" -- couldn't even finish the sentence, and it was such absolute foreshadowing, biggest Chekhov's gun I have ever seen.
Their bond -- enough said, peak romance. Also, the discussion of their bond is the first moment they truly start connecting this season, which I really love.
Armand is simultaneously working on himself and Up To Something (of course he is up to something, and he's currently doing the final circle of the cycle of abuse, and it looks promising; they're all reaching their lowest points this season, as characters), but he gets so urgently desperate with Daniel, those moments of his confessions coded with music and other cues as genuine, and I love that.
(Let's also not discount "wE wErE cIrCLiNg eAcH oThEr~" and "aRgUiNg aS fOrEpLaY~", but that's marginal and just makes me cackle)
I'm definitely excited about the next episode and their little Sunscreen Gift date (in the preview Armand makes a Daniel-Related Dubai Face for the first time this season, like he's bouncing back and enjoying time with his special boy), looking forward to what it brings us.
Yes, they're getting criminally little time together this season, but this season is honestly so packed that each character feels like they aren't getting enough time, except Lestat, whose season this is (but omg, even in s1 and 2, which were Louis seasons, Lestat got more time than other mains this season, damn). There are also some pacing issues in virtually all storylines, which bother me, but which I also kind of get. Bring back 12-episode seasons, I AM BEGGING.
Gah, there were a few more things I was excited about, but I forget right now! I'll add more to the post when I remember.
Armand also allegedly gets a big chunk of ep7, and while my personal feeling is that it will be a rewind of s3 and showing what he's been up to this entire time, I think we'll see plenty of Daniel there too, maaaaybe even the first glimpse of some memories, but that's just fun and non-binding speculation on my part. The finales tend to be bombshell reveals, so who knows what to expect!
Anyway, I like where this is going and I would SO LOVE to see them get back together by season finale!
