It was really slow today so Lenox had a hard time paying attention and following, but I loved it. I have some stretching work to do with yoga - ouch!

Grocery delivery was SO much fun!!! We got to say hi to Jamie and the boys through their front window and then hang out in front of Nandy & Grandys to say hi ❤️

H-E-B had milk, eggs and meat, so I quickly dialed my bat phone to see who needed it and got some for us, Jamie and the boys and Nandy & Grandy! (Purchase limits on the staples, so had to make a couple trips to get some for each family 🤣) TP and Paper towels were still out, there were only bagels and one type of bread and soup, rice and pasta were pretty much wiped out. But we got some essentials for the ones we love - success!!

On the home front, the inmates are now running the asylum 😝🤯🤣 DJ Mel mixing it up for living room dance party and drinking milk from the jug. There. are. no. rules. anymore. 😝🤩🥳😎

Jason is working from home and we are only going out in public to get groceries. We go on walks and bike rides around the neighborhood way more than before and use our backyard playset and trampoline all. the. time. (When it’s not raining, which it has been, a lot.)

Some things happening during our self-quarantine:

I got groceries!! Sprouts for the win! No line to get into the store AND fresh veggies & some meat 🥳 (still no toilet paper or paper towels to be found)

L’s new favorite spot ❤️ Our new countertops have made SUCH a difference in how our house feels!!! I LOVE IT! L hangs out at the bar while we do stuff n things (cook, dishes, laundry, etc), it feels SO much more open and flowy now that the ledge behind the sink is gone! The sight lines. OH the sight lines! We can see R hanging out in her mat in the living room - and she can see us. We are SO lucky to have gotten this done just before all the Coronavirus craziness hit the US. With our playset back up, our comfy and huge new couch, the smart tv we can throw art tutorials and yoga videos up on and our new kitchen counters, our home is quite the luxury quarantine abode 🤣

One upside to the quarantine - Lenox said, we are cooking all together - we’ve never ALL been cooking at the same time before! 💕

Along with online art videos, we’ve discovered the new ottoman is perfect for practicing some of her cheer gymnastics!!

And everyone, meet Candi - Lenox’s new Kiwi. Covid-19 present #1. There may not be toilet paper for purchase at H-E-B anymore, but there ARE adorable Kiwis, so - you win some, you lose some. 🤣

Here are 10 make-everyday-worth-it moments from the week that went from the everyday to the craziest part of life I’ve experienced thus far, and hopefully the craziest Lenox and Rodi will ever have to experience.

Our first bath in the new farmhouse sink!

Lenox helped grocery shop for some house staples in case we needed to be home a while (before the real isolation messaging came through in the USA. This was the tip of the iceberg.). Oh how I wish I’d k own to pick up toilet paper and paper towels. Lenox did pick out which cake she’d buy Auntie Rachael for her birthday if we lived near each other though (Yum)!

Chase and Brandon sent a video of their Mustang, Scarlett - this was L’s excited face. And this pic was just TOO cute not to share.

We also had a little corona-quarantine fun.

Soccer in the backyard with daddy (Thank you, Liam, for letting us play with your green soccer ball. We’ll make sure it makes it home with you next visit, but until then, we’ll make sure it’s not lonely!).

And a silent rave while the kiddos slept. DJ Mel in ATX spun up some JAMZ from 6 til 12 and we bounced around and danced our booties off, along with 1.2k other folks around the world!

Someone discovered the washer and dryer, and she was mesmerized!!! For like 3 minutes 🤣.

Lenox and I did our first “LUNCH DOODLES with Mo Willems!” art lesson. He writes and illustrates both The Pigeon and The Elephant and Piggy books. The Kennedy center is live streaming him every weekday at 1pm during quarantine for the kiddos to have a creative outlet. Thanks, Mo!

Since everyone was to be quarantining on St. Patty’s day, our neighborhood put shamrocks up in windows and lawns so kids could walk or bike around and “spot the shamrock”. It was so fun! And one neighbor even put out temporary tattoos - oooooh 👏🏻🍀 And of course we all dressed in our best (read: only) green outfits!

So two things:

1) CoronaVirus - we went from planning outings to Sea World and the zoo to school closing for a minimum of three weeks, “social distancing” of 6 feet between people in public, 10 or less people in any social gathering, and isolating ourselves to only have one of us leave the house for groceries - all within a week.

Last Friday, Jason had surgery to implant his sleep apnea device, Inspire. It was a more invasive surgery and difficult recovery than we expected. But luckily, Jason is a super trooper and has (mostly) conformed to the doctor’s low activity/movement recovery orders and has been faithful to the pain pill schedule to keep him in good spirits. He took the week off of work for recovery and has actually been REALLY good at staying off the email (mostly because he’s been on some pretty hard core pain pills, but we’ll take it!).

The following Monday, we lost our sweet Munchkin. We’ve known it’s been coming, but I’ve refused to acknowledge it. While he’s been having seizures and lost some control of his bowels, he has still been his sweet happy self - and until that was gone and I saw him in pain, I couldn’t wrap my head or heart around making the call to say goodbye.

On Sunday, he was not himself. He was clenched and labored, hiding outside in L’s playscape cave all day by himself. Sunday evening J and I discussed and decided we would make the call the next morning. Well, Munchkin made the decision on his own - going downhill that night.

Jason sat up with him from 3am and came to get me at 6am to say goodbye. I laid with him and made sure he knew we were with him. He hung in there, obviously in pain and it was too much for us to bear. Chase called in a favor to her horse doc and he came to our home to put Munchkin to sleep in the comfort of his home, on his bed, with his loved ones by his side.

He was 13 years old and has been the best dog. From day one, when he toddled out of a dark trunk dressed in a Santa outfit to say hello, he has been the happiest, sweetest, well mannered and fun puppy we could have ever been blessed with. Our solace in losing him is that he’s back with our other babies, his original fur baby family - Sienna and Journey.
