[ ϟϟ ] — He simply did not manage to get her neck between his teeth and that proved to be a missed chance as she gained some more distance again, away from the snapping jaws of the Captain who snapped the air with one last, furious snarl ripping from his chaps.
His eyes rolled upwards as she was suddenly in the air where she had been before him a second ago. In terms of speed - she obviously had the advantage but the old war dog was not going to let that discourage him.
He lowered his stance, balanced his weight on his hind legs and then used his strength to push himself off the ground in order to meet her in mid air. Where the tree fell into pieces after she had used it to jump higher, Hans left a crater in the earth itself.
And within seconds a pale and a dark silhouette were meeting right in the center of the bright moon that was bathing them in their light. His jaws were wide open and he aimed for her throat once more. Whoever missed, was going to end up on the ground.
He launched himself at her and she tried to twist again out of his way. Her claws raked down his side but his jaw caught in her shoulder and she fell awkwardly, twisting in an attempt to recover. She landed heavily on her wounded side, interrupting the regeneration and she barked with pain as the wind was knocked from her.
A growl rumbled not from her throat but from her stomach and she cursed. She knew she should have eaten before coming here and now her shift was steadily eating away at her remaining energy. She struggled to regain her breath and her feet before he came at her again. It was increasingly evident that as she was she would be no match for his brute strength and though it rankled her to run, she would much rather survive to fight another day.
