Ngl if Shang Qinghua pulled baby Binghe out of the river and attempted to babytrap Mobei Jun with him, Mobei Jun would believe him. So what the baby looks nothing like either of them, they’ve never had sex, and it isn’t even an ice demon. Qinghua is just that powerful.

Presumably heavenly demons don’t need to nurse since Su Xiyan died basically immediately after giving birth, but Mobei Jun cannot accept this state of affairs. Ice demon babies have to eat sooooooo much when they’re little to insulate them from the cold, and it is a display of wealth and power to breastfeed your child well in the north, since food is so difficult to hunt. Mobei Jun is inducing milk as quickly as he can so he can turn Binghe into a toasty little meatball. Of course inducing milk requires a lot of work, massaging the breasts and suckling. Qinghua will have to help him with that part.

Also contrary to popular opinion, I believe that Shang Qinghua would be the more hands off parent— partially because he just doesn’t have time to hover, but mostly because he knows nothing can kill Binghe/be worse than the original timeline. Opposite Mobei Jun who’s only information about parenting was his decidedly neglectful childhood, what was bad. To him the logical path to raising a happy child is doing to opposite— relentlessly coddling and safeguarding his baby. Binghe isn’t even allowed to sleep in his own bed till he’s 11, and even then it’s still in Mobei Jun’s room. Mobei Jun is SO vigilant about threats to his baby, even the relatively minor environmental ones. He keeps Binghe permanently swaddled in the thickest, warmest, fluffiest furs found in the natural world. Binghe is Suchhhh a Mama’s boy, even if Mobei Jun isn’t very obviously caring, Binghe knows how much he’s loved by action. Everything actually ends up very uneventful and fine, Binghe staying up north happy and loved. The only real drama is from Binghe realizing his parents aren’t even together, and working around the clock to fix that.
