ME: imagine--backgrounds inspired by the suprematist stage designs of alexandra exter--by the neoplasticist architectural designs of jjp oud!! non-objective forms, perfectly tailored to the heightened reality of the superhero setting!! what is the point of this fantasy--light and color, heroes that can leap buildings in a single bound, rings that can form anything--if they will be used mechanically and literally?! cinema has long had an intimate relationship with the avant garde! one of truffaud's first shorts was woven around the thematic of audiotactile music, visual music, and experimental music--namely the works of pierre schaeffer!! imagine--clever use of montage, of costumes, of lighting!! scores inspired by the works of halim el-dabh, of george crumb!! the superhero work has always been a generic medley, and these genres have all meddled in the experimental!! the most critically acclaimed usamerican science fiction movies featured compositions by ligeti!! and such medleys can always engage dialectically with their constituent parts!! perry henzell's crime and drama debut would be incomplete without reggae and references to the italian western!! speaking of--look at what the soviets did with the western!! if we are to be steeped in the culture industry, we can at least question its standardization of style!! come--take my hand--let us make art together!!

Software used: Clip Studio Paint EX version 1.13.2, perpetual license
i was using Paint Tool SAI back when i first started animating my watercolors, ehehe
first, i used the lasso selection tool to cut out the parts i want to move and paste them to a different layer. i then covered up the holes left behind, mostly relying on copy+pasting to preserve the original texture. the clone stamp/copy stamp tool should work great for this, though i've never used it myself (didn't know CSP had it until looking it up just now)
then, with the parts that move, i cut them into pieces to move them around. the mouth has a top part and a bottom part, while the eyes have three parts: upper eyelash, lower eyelash, and middle part
as an additional example, here's an eye from an old comm of mine:
i usually animate on 10fps and make 5 unique frames for blinking -
default position
closing (closer to open)
closed
opening (closer to closed)
default position but eyelashes very slightly lifted (to add a little bounce)
extra frames could be added for more bounce (e.g. with eyelashes, light, pupils)
lastly, the sparkly swirl of light - that was drawn digitally!
it probably would've helped for organization if i made a separate folder for the swirl rather than duplicating the eye layer 8 times, but it worked out alright
i used to animate in Paint Tool SAI by individually saving frames and plugging them into gifmaker.me or ezgif.com. it's been great for my sanity to have a timeline function, though i still use ezgif for transparent gifs and stuff

psa - thinking about a random utena recurring character for longer than a few minutes might wound you. so be cautious about starting the black rose arc. it's full of "hey think about this total joke character for the next 21 minutes, it's quick and painless". they won't warn you at all of the dangers.

>she's basically Haruno Sakura-tier at being hated by the audience because she gets between the male MC and his rival fighting against each other

So this morning I found out that the RPG Maker forums will be shutting down this year, and it’s really just another depressing thing to see.
If you read the link the company does of course say they’re replacing the existing forums with new ones, and I’m sure no one would say the old ones didn’t perhaps need a lil bit of a glow up, some tech debt fixing… but there’s a few key notes in there:
They are NOT carrying over any history, data messages etc. from the old forums
They are NOT archiving, retaining or in any way saving the existing forums in any way
They have NOT provided any reasoning past ‘as part of continued efforts to support developers’
As an offhand, moderate read, this sounds to me like a desire for some change in the forums but deciding nuking everything is less expensive than rebuilding and carrying over info.
If I’m cynical, and likely realistic? Probably to increase sales of their latest GameMaker software by making it inherently more difficult for someone getting the older software for cheap pushing it to its limits. The amount of institutional knowledge on those forums is absurd.
And even if it is a benign reason, it’s still terrible because what do you mean you’re doing this with no recourse or potential for change? You sell software that runs on community goodwill? In an era where people are pulling away to open source software?? Crazy.
There are yeeeaaars of answers, plugins, suggestion, community built up on those forums - I’ve used the em to learn and grow my own skillet!!! And soon it won’t exist.
At the very least, they gave a ‘heads up’ - the deletion occurs mid December, so archiving by the community is possible from now. It’s just absurd that it needs to happen in the first place.
It’s just reflective of how the industry is right now - and why it’s so important for communities to grow and build up knowledge together, knowledge that is NOT reliant on a company that can pull the plug at any time in the very name of the very customers, users and supporters they are screwing over.
