“Normal” test results are not the relief people think they are. When you wake up in pain and continue to be in pain for hours every day and your tests come back normal you don’t stop being in pain.

I find it very offensive that the more unwell you are, the more things you have to do to maintain your health. Things like following special diets, going to medical appointments, making big and important decisions about what treatments to use. At the same time, the more unwell you are the less energy you have to do all of these extra things. It seems grossly unfair.

Don't feel bad if you haven't recovered from a condition your doctor says is "very treatable." Doctors and society in general often underestimate how debilitating pain, physical illnesses, and mental health problems can be. Don't listen to anyone who insinuates that you don't want to get better or aren't committed to your treatment because your symptoms haven't improved much. Take as long as you need to heal.
