Hoshi-Hana Allround

n. the realization that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own—populated with their own ambitions, friends, routines, worries and inherited craziness—an epic story that continues invisibly around you like an anthill sprawling deep underground, with elaborate passageways to thousands of other lives that you’ll never know existed, in which you might appear only once, as an extra sipping coffee in the background, as a blur of traffic passing on the highway, as a lighted window at dusk.

Saw zine folks posting their pieces, so I figured I’d add my finished 2cents to the pile as well. :) 

Creative section on twitch launched this month and with it we’ve seen an influx of new artists. But with large companies zeroing in on the platform what will happen to the little freelancer or singular artist? 

With companies like  "instapainting“ on creative I fear that this safe place for artists will become a billboard for corporations. “Lets try something cool to hook them in”, seems to be the way this company is going. Take a look at this twitch.tv page: 

Its obvious that this is a tactical way for a company to sell their product. There is no way 100+ chat people can create anything. But get them on the board so that someone will click over and get whatever product “instapainting” has is worth it to a company just trying to make a sale. If you take a look at the site instapainting has its the exact opposite of what Creative has to offer.  Creative is a place for artist and fans to connect. The heart of creative is for the creator to connect and share their passions. If its painting, sculpting, pipe-cleaner arts or even cooking. They are there to connect to the chat, not just sell a product. 

At least with the Adobe people they have the decency to have the individual artist on to showcase the product. They have even introduced traditional art to the digital masses. (see @quinnsimoesart here live on the adobe channel)

Something a little more personal.

Since my move to California, there had been a lot of self-doubt about my level of talent and whether or not I should have made the choices I’ve made leading up to this point. As I’ve said in this, even when it seems as though everything’s not going well, life has a way of turning things around when you work hard enough to make that happen.
