Pony Field Day by Judy Katschke, illustrated by Lyn Fletcher
The ponies are having a spring field day! Hosted by Sparkleworks and Sunny Daze, the day promises enless fun activities. But what’s a pony to do when something goes wrong at each activity? Will the ponies have enough quick-thinking to save the field day?
This is a cardboard board book from 2007. It originally came with an inserted pony charm necklace, likely to match the one shown at the end of the book. I bought mine secondhand, and it came without the charm necklace, so I can’t show it, but I love thinking about what delight it must have brought whatever child initially owned this book! It’s probably really hard to find, as a collector’s item now. I haven’t seen it listed anywhere, and I’m not sure I’ve even seen a photo of it. I’m sure there’s documentation SOMEWHERE out there.
I think this book would’ve made a cute animated short! Honestly, G3 has plenty of cute storybooks that could be adapted wonderfully. Besides, we really don’t get to see Sunny Daze in the spotlight at all in the animation, despite her main-character energy. She’s always felt more fleshed-out of a character to me, even though we don’t see much of her. I love Sunny Daze!
