βΆ β START OVER AGAIN !
summary: baelor loses his memory after the trial of seven. you help him remember everything he forgot, and he falls in love with you again everyday. (2.2k)
pairing: baelor targaryen / fem!reader
contents: fix it fic because i'm a widow in mourning, established relationship, implied age gap, angst, hurt/comfort, a bunch of fluff, canon divergence cw for spoilers for s1ep5, mentions of blood and gore
βHave I told you that I love you today?β
You think youβve heard that question uttered more in the span of a year than any other β save for, maybe, βHow is Valarr?β and βAny word from my brother?β The Trial of Seven had not been kind to any of the knights on that field that day, but least of all to yours. Baelor had suffered a blow to the back of the helm from Maekarβs mace that had not killed him, but had perhaps made him wish that he were dead.
He spent nearly thirty days in a coma, surviving only on honey and water, which had turned him skin and bone. And then, when he finally woke, he spent several more days caught in a cycle of excruciating pain and deep sleep from the milk of the poppy he was prescribed. It took him a week thereafter to make sense of his surroundings in the Ashford Infirmary, and then another to put a name to your face β the woman who had not left his bedside since he woke, whose beauty he could only vaguely recognize.
His head injury had stripped him of his memories, the maesters said, and had prevented him from making any new ones. When the wound finally healed and the medicine no longer clouded his awareness, Baelor could remember only this: the birth of his son, the childhood he shared with his younger brother, and the love he had for you.

tolkien in 1938: i should regret giving any colour to the notion that i subscribed to the wholly pernicious and unscientific race-doctrine
tolkien in 1967: [after the interviewer says middle-earth corresponds spiritually to nordic europe] not nordic, please! a word I personally dislike; it is associated, though of french origin, with racialist theories
andy serkis: everyone in my shitty little money grabbing film is white because tolkien was inspired by norse mythology and i donβt believe in political correctness
Oh FFS
The Hunt For Gollum adds AI-powered de-aging technology to the Fellowship
a series famous for its intense dedication to practical effects, which still look phenomenal 25 years later, has now been reduced to this. fuck off andy serkis. animal farm was a disaster but i had some sympathy as it seemed to be a lot of studio interference. now i'm not so sure.
i have such a big issue with andy serkis saying that his casting for the hunt for gollum will be all white because he views middle earth as white. i think that comment and the backlash to it merits serious introspection from him and the producers on WHY you feel that way. comfortability in whiteness and surrounding yourself with other white people doesn't equate to middle earth being entirely white. tolkien described multiple characters as brown skinned, curly haired, tanned, and whatever other adjective you could throw out there. the assumption that all characters in the legendarium are white due to tolkien being inspired by norse mythology is just false and tells me that he hasn't read the books or has blocked out portions of it to make himself more comfortable. it's emerald fennel with healthcliff all over again. and i'm personally disgusted by the comment and probably will not be watching the movie. the original peter jackson movies were all white 20+ years ago and with all the love i have for those films, that fact is one of my biggest gripes with it. lord of the rings is not real, it is fantasy, so there is literally zero reason to exclude poc. and people have different colored skin due to fucking sun exposure. are we saying that these people who have mostly evolved outside all their lives and till the fucking earth outdoors all their lives wouldn't even be tan? like holy shit what kind of cognitive dissonance are we dealing with here
really just in my feelings once more about Hecuba of Troyβ¦..
βThis character is dead in canonβ to you. Theyβre dead in canon to you. To me theyβre fine

β°ββ€ β Thrice have mine own kin sought to replace me. My cousin Ser Arnold is wont to say that women are too soft to rule. I have him in one of my sky cells, if you would like to ask him. β
One of the most powerful women in post-conquest Westeros, Jeyne Arryn became Lady Paramount of the Vale at three after her father and brothers were suddenly killed. By the time she had come of age in 110 AC, her male relatives had already tried three times to overthrow her. She had a distaste for Daemon Targaryen shown both in disregarding his claim to Runestone and stating outright that Rhaenyra had chosen a bad consort.
During the Dance, she played an integral role in supporting Rhaenyra, both her cousin and a fellow female ruler. Initially she looked after Rhaenyra's third born son, Joffrey, as well as Rhaena of Pentos who she'd later take as her ward. Her forces took part in the Fall of King's Landing, as well as joining Cregan Stark after Rhaenyra's death in the final march against Aegon II. When Aegon III came to the throne, Jeyne's forces supported him in restoring order to the Crownlands, as well as reuniting him with Rhaena and Baela.
In the aftermath, she served as one of Aegon's seven regents, then returning to the Vale to rally against the raiding Mountain Clansmen. While too occupied to return to King's Landing, she nonetheless continued to play a minor role in the regency, ceasing only when she died in her "dear companion" Jessamyn Redfort's arms of a cold. Having never married, the Vale passed to her distant cousin, placing his claim above the offspring of the closer relatives who'd attempted to usurp her.
