My name is Asmaa, and I am writing on behalf of my brother Diaa.

Right now, Diaa is fighting for his life in the ICU. His condition is extremely critical, and doctors are doing everything they can to keep him alive. He is connected to multiple medical devices, and every hour is filled with fear and uncertainty.

Diaa is not just my brother. He is the pillar of our family. He has always worked tirelessly to support us, care for our parents, and stand beside his nine sisters through every hardship. Even during his own struggles, he always put others before himself.

Today, we are trying to raise $2,000 to help cover the urgent medical care and treatment he desperately needs.

I'm a trans woman living with my Two-Spirit partner. I'm the bread-maker but we have been living paycheck to paycheck for a good long while. There are some serious expenses looming the next few months as I have the privilege of being a boardmember of the an HOA. The property's roof has ended it's life cycle and they are moving forward with replacing it. Every boardmember has to pay their share in a 3-month payment installments totalling out to $5,000. Payments being collected next month in July.

I was able to take out a loan for half while still keeping my head above water with what I earn and owe, but I'm stretched thin and need to make more money with side gigs. I need to make about an extra $800 a month for 3 months to keep up with this.

Food budget is supplemented by plasma donations, around $110 week, if I'm consistent with it. Might be able to use some of that money if I'm smart with what we cook and eat.

Beyond that, all the extra work I can do is either Uber deliveries while gas is the most expensive it's ever been, or try to take up a local weekend job and work 7 days a week to make ends meet. Did that once before and it felt like I lost time and memories.

Thanks to your contributions my partner was able to pay what she owed this month and I was able to have $300 added to my savings for this ordeal, netting me past the $800 goal for this month, thank you so much for the help.

As we go into the next month, if there is any aid you can lend to ease the burden it will be greatly appreciated.

this particularly works with anything negative i’ve forecasted. “i woke up feeling like shit today, so my day is gonna suck” isn’t a particularly helpful thought, but “it’s a great day to be alive!!!!!” feels hollow and insincere when i have a pounding headache & am running on three hours of sleep

instead i’ll tell myself, “i really don’t feel good right now, but i’m open to the possibility that coffee and breakfast might perk me up a bit.” or “i’m in a lot of pain today, but i’m open to the possibility that my workday might still have fun parts despite that”

More than 50% of Indigenous communities in reserve areas in Canada are at high risk of pipeline spills. When there is a spill, reserves are disproportionately impacted.

The National Energy Board and Supreme Court of Canada has a history of declaring the "public interest and economic interests outweigh Indigenous and treaty rights." Basically, Indigenous peoples don't count enough as "public" to matter.

Pipelines are built without proper consent from the Indigenous Nations they choose to occupy. Keep in mind I say choose, because this is the case even when alternative pipeline routes are suggested that could avoid reserve land. This is a direct, constant, and often violent threat to Indigenous sovereignty.

The MMIW crisis is funded by the oil industry through the creation of worker's "man camps" near reserve land. These "man camps" are nothing but pits of sexual violence and human trafficking of Indigenous women and girls. I am not exaggerating; this is well studied and well documented.
