I think the whole sentiment of "separating art from the artist" is a fucking psyop. I'd argue that the context under which an artist creates informs everything about the product. So many times I've enjoyed a piece of media without engaging with it critically, before coming to discover that whoever made it is a piece of shit. And every single time when I return to the book/movie/series, what have you, with fresh context, I see all the little crumbs the piece of shit creator left behind to clue me in to their shittery.
