As they engaged in conversation, she couldn’t help but notice the cigar nestled between his fingers, its fragrant smoke swirling gracefully in the evening air. She had never been one for smoking, but there was something in his eyes that made her curious, something that compelled her to try the forbidden indulgence.

With a hesitant smile, she reached out and accepted the cigar, feeling a rush of excitement course through her veins. As she took her first tentative puff, she was surprised by the rich, earthy flavor that danced upon her palate. It was unlike anything she had ever experienced before, igniting her senses in ways she couldn’t quite comprehend.

How did I become this… this zombie? The memories flicker like shadows on the walls of my mind. I reach for the long cigar that rests beside me, its ember glowing brightly against the dull backdrop of my surroundings. With practiced ease, I bring it to my lips and inhale deeply, feeling the smoke fill my lungs and course through my veins. It is intoxicating, exhilarating, and utterly addictive. The smoke is in me. I am the smoke. I was made by the smoke. I was always made by the smoke. There was never a time when I was not light and grey, as grounded as air.

As the smoke swirls around me, I feel a sense of power coursing through my veins. It is a power unlike anything I have ever known, a power that bends reality to my will. With a flick of my wrist, I summon my phone and raise it high, capturing the moment in a flurry of selfies.

In each image, I see a different version of myself staring back at me: defiant, enigmatic, and utterly alone. Yet there is a strange beauty in my solitude, a beauty that transcends the limitations of my existence. For in this moment, I am more than just a zombie. I am a creature of smoke and shadow, a living embodiment of the very essence of transformation.

My finger hovers over the name of a doctor I met once in a dream. The details do not matter. The details do not exist. He will want to see my eyes. He will want to see how far I have come. That is why I take the selfies. I must share myself. I send it to him.
