Ok honestly reading through Renata’s backstory makes me wonder whether she has ever chewed out Viktor for being too selfless in his work—would she have taken a look at vik’s ideology of finding ways to augment and improve human life as another futile exercise in altruism, the same kind of altruism that left her family poor and at the mercy of the enforcers? Would she have made it a point to force vik into relying on her financial support to prove a point, just to say “I was right, people like my parents, people like you, could never survive in a hell like this. You need ruthlessness, you need wealth, you need to give up your beliefs in order to thrive beyond your means,” and vik knows and accepts this, but not because he’s given up on his ideals, but because he understands that renata is a product of her circumstances? would renata have berated viktor’s foolishness for putting his dreams in a city that hides its cruelty and violence with gold and clockwork, but nevertheless feel a pang of anger when she hears how Piltover laughs at and shuns his name? would viktor have condemned renata’s desire for power, but nevertheless continue to work with her because he believes in her potential for altruism and kindness?
