the gesture returned isn’t something he really expected. he watches with amusement as the yordle seems to muck through his thoughts, before deciding on a conclusion and mirroring Fai’s own actions  (  but in a far more entertaining way  ). the smile on his lips hides laughter, but boasts of kindness and gratefulness. reaching up to pat Gnar atop the head with a gentle hand, he nods in affirmation.   ❝   flower. thank you Gnar, i’ll treasure your gift forever.   ❞   appreciation further handled by turning his head just enough to plant a soft kiss atop his head. Fai knows these creatures to be spirited and kind, and he wants to keep it that way.   ❝   do you have a favourite one?   ❞

*⋆⊱—   little   yordle   coos   and   trills   cheerfully   as   he's   given   pets,   ears   perking   at   kiss   bestowed.   he   bumps   his   nose   against   Fai   ,   mindful   of   tusks   as   he   coos   more.   even   without   language   ,   he   could   tell   how   kindhearted   his   new   friend   was,   and   his   nature   was   magical.   Gnar   knew   little   of   magic   beyond     innate   feelings   ,   but   he   felt   entirely   at   ease   with   Fai.   words   are   given   a   few   moments   to   register   ,   the   child   putting   paw   to   mouth   as   he   tried   to   decipher   what   he   was   being   asked   .   

❝   p-please… i know we were on opposite sides before, but before you get angry at me, i came to talk peacefully. i came to… explain why i stood by his side in spite of who i am. you could sense my magic too, couldn’t you?   ❞   he fidgets nervously where he stands in the doorway of the sentinel base, fully expecting to be lashed out at. which… he wouldn’t blame anyone for considering he had fought for and protected the ruined king, but he’d never explained why. had never really gotten the chance  ;  but with it all over now, he hoped they could all forge some kind of friendship. perhaps a useless hope, but one he would try anyway.

✁—   alone   ,   gwen   had   braced   herself   with   scissors   upon   stranger's   entrance—   but   pause   is   given   as   he   speaks   ,   and   she   drops   stance   in   favor   of   innocent   rocking   upon   heels   ,   as   though   she   wasn't   just   prepared   to   cut   him   into   pieces.   scissors   hung   in   the   air   beside   her   ,   harmlessly   bobbing   alongside   her   motion   .   

incredible that she’s also unaffected  ;  but not surprising. if people like him exist, then it’s plausible that creatures like her could too. there were so many different types of magic in the world, it would be terribly closed-minded to expect only oneself to be special.   ❝   that makes two of us then.   ❞   a remark made with a small laugh.   ❝   yes. Viego is the one who’s very sad, but my hope is that he won’t be forever. that’s why i am his friend, even if other people might not like that.   ❞   as was shown by the damage done to his body. still, he gladly bares those scars with no remorse. Viego needed someone like him, or so he hoped. ❝   i wonder if he likes cats…   ❞   he wouldn’t be getting rid of her any time soon, not that he wanted to anyway, which meant Viego would be greeted by two friendly living souls, instead of just one.   ❝   oh… please do not fret over my injuries, i am afraid the sentinels and i simply do not see eye to eye. i will be alright, but i appreciate your willingness to try and help heal me. i don’t believe i gave you my name yet, did i? it’s Fai. and you, little one?   ❞

she is…. so very innocent  ;  and for better or worse, it could land her in some very tricky situations, much as she was now. judging by her carefree speech and the way she hardly acknowledged the mist around them, she was wholly unconcerned with her surroundings. ignorance was bliss, as they say, or she was purposefully ignoring it for the sake of just… well, not caring? he wasn’t sure. nonetheless, Fai knelt down to scoop her up in his arms   –   the wraiths would never touch him due to his magic, and Viego had zero interest in hurting anyone or anything, despite what the world perceived.   ❝   you’re in the black mist.   ❞   he answers quietly, wondering if that might jar some kind of reaction from her. ❝   my companion is… the one i’m waiting for is Viego.   ❞   perhaps mentioning him by name would do it, if nothing else did. not that he was interested in scaring her. that name was the reason he was covered in bandages and bruises, but Fai still stood strong.   ❝   i have no doubt in my mind that you’re very tough,   ❞   he murmurs with a soft smile.   ❝   but are you sure you want to stay here after hearing who i’m waiting for? i’ll understand if you don’t, i can take you out of here safely; the mist can’t touch my magic.   ❞

      his   tone   is   silky   ,   a   deep   croon   perfectly   meant   to   entice   .   he   is   cordial   ,   polite   ,   and   yet   it   was   nonetheless   apparent   the   sinister   undertones   of   his   visage   ,   the   way   carmine   eyes   gleam   like   a   predators   .   yet   he   smiles   ,   calm   &&   pristine   ,   not   unlike   any   other   nobility   .   his   nature   was   both   so   clear   &&   yet   hidden   just   right   ;   all   for   sake   of   image   .

               brief surprise encompassing features, attention that previously poured over magical device in hands now shifted to the small cat currently pawing at his ankles.

              then again, this is Runeterra and there are many strange and odd things that happen here; a talking cat was hardly something to bat your eyes at. smile in tow, he crouches down and places a hand on top of her head.   ❝   my magic comes from a country that doesn’t technically exist on any map of Runeterra anymore.   ❞   his answer is accompanied by a gentle scritch behind her ears   –   my goodness, she’s adorable.

              ❝   where we are is… maybe not a place you should be.   ❞   concern dotting otherwise kind expression; he awaits Viego in the mist, a meeting that was meant to come sometime this afternoon. he wonders only briefly as to why she might not be affected, but perhaps it’s his magic that allows that. a safety net, which he’s quietly grateful for.   ❝   according to my map, this was a city outside the Ionian capitol, but now it’s… simply a ghost because of the mist. i was meeting someone here.   ❞ 

✩⁎*✧⭒   her   gaze   is   sweet   &&   curious   as   she   looks   up   at   Fai   ,   lofting   friendly   purr   as   scritches   were   bestowed   .   ❝   Oh!   Is   it   from   another   place   ?   Maybe   Book   knows   about   it.   ❞   briefly   does   she   spare   a   look   around   ,   seeming   to   frown   a   little   .   She   could   only   wonder   why   Book   was   being   such   a   scaredy-book   .   ❝   Oh   .   .   .   well   ,   Book   is   hiding.   That's   okay!   ❞   attention   returns   to   Fai   ,   and   her   tail   sways   behind   her   ,   smile   returning   .
