religion is so fucking funny the world is just too beautiful there must be a higher entity behind all this. lets oppress women

some characters just need to run away from their current circumstances and survive (just barely) on the streets or in the wilderness for a while, you know? i don't think it's necessarily the most efficient path to healing and it's certainly not the least painful/traumatic one but sometimes a character has been so stripped of agency and you just want to see them run away and forcibly shift their genre to survival thriller......

whenever people learn that they're christian and that their music is deeply christian in itself there's always such a heavy knee-jerk to be like "but it's actually about my blorbo and NOT jesus ☝️ i'm allowed to listen to it because i have spun it to be palatable to me now" and yes i understand so many people have issues with christianity but SO DO THEY!!! the point of 2/3 of their discography is how angry they are with modern "christianity" and how regressive and bigoted people have become while using religion as their shield. i'm such a huge fan of their music not just for its sound but for its message and it's so disappointing that the most common way i see people engaging with their work is to fully ignore the original intent because people hear they're religious and instantly stop wanting to engage with the work on a deeper level. please look into and explore the themes of the four winds series it is good for you!!!!!

idk maybe i'm biased but i really don't think you can fully enjoy their music without at least the acknowledgement of the original themes. especially when it comes to the four winds series because of the fact that they were political and social commentary before anything else. the point of the albums was to have people look inwards and analyze their beliefs and worldviews and you can only really get so much of that by saying "omg this is so glup shitto core" and willfully ignoring everything else
