Just so people know the background on this man and his herd of guinea pigs-- he moved into a house, and discovered about 10 guinea pigs living in a fenced area of the back garden. It was overgrown so he never noticed before moving in. It turned out the previous tenants just abandoned the poor babies. So Cyd immediately was like "well I guess im a father now." And began learning how to care for them.

He didnt realize he had to separate the males from the females (they'd been intermingled when he found them so it didnt occur to him) until suddenly all the females were pregnant and by the time he was able to separate them all out, he now had 80 guinea pigs.

On his tiktok he documents building them new, nicer outdoor homes, beginning to regularly grow grasses to feed them, while also spending over 100 pounds a week to keep them in supply of fresh veggies. He also treats them for lice and tics ever 3 months.

He recognizes each one and each one has a name.

-waves- I'm in the middle of my (race cars) era apparently. I decided to start watching SVG's Supercar career just for fun, and just generally rambling about all the racing things I'm digging at the moment to make my inner child happy.

I'm basically, mostly, doing a live-blog of the races with all my in the moment vibes and questions and such.

I know substack is mostly a place for writers to y'know get some monetary gain, but that's not the goal for me. this is just for fun. You also don't have to sign up and subscribe (there's a skip button at the bottom).

(Some of you all may be too young to remember, but before the Matrix Keanu Reeves was not a big time star. And people would occasionally ask on various internet forums, "Why does Keanu Reeves keep getting work? He's a so-so actor. By Hollywood standards he's only average looking. His name isn't big enough to draw people. Why is he getting cast in so many movies?" And the answer would always be: producers loved him. If he was in your movie he would show up every day, on time, sober, with his lines memorized, ready to work. He never caused drama with the cast or crew. He was genuinely a pleasure to work with. And so he kept getting parts.)

(And of course after the Matrix he was a big name who could sell tickets, and his acting kept getting better, and he's one of those people who grow into their looks and he's a lot more handsome now than he was in his 20s. But by all accounts he's still a pleasure to work with.)

(7/30/26) The Red Cross just declared the second US blood crisis in its history.

Summer sees both a drop off in donations and, at least for our trauma center, a spike in traumas. Trauma centers across the US are in danger of running out of blood for our trauma patients TODAY, which is very scary but, unlike much of the other scary national news coming across our screens these days, is something you can help fix immediately and directly.

We need ASAP donations of blood, for people to spread the word, and for manager types to help facilitate others' donations. All blood types are needed, but universal donor blood (type O) is especially dire.
