Jax is a self destructive character, yes, but he’s not well written enough for anyone to really care. It just comes off like he’s a whiny little loser that gets off on torturing others (QUITE LITERALLY IF THE WHOLE SCENE WITH GANGLE IN THE FINALE SAYS ANYTHING BTW).

Clark is his humble superior in every way. He is complex, as most characters should be. It is difficult to write off all his actions but at the same time it’s difficult to not at least pity his situation. He is written with so much care that is simply not present with Jax despite Goose practically wanting to jerk him off all the time.

Even just looking at how the fandoms treat the characters can tell you how well they’re written!

As we all know, trash tends to attract flies, so obviously Jax has a bunch of fans that don’t care enough to dig deep into his actions and realize the effect he has on others. This is a massive frustration I have with Jax fans PLEASE STOP TALKING ABOUT HOW “HOT” HE IS AND THINK ABOUT WHAT HE DOES

Meanwhile art attracts intellectuals, and where Jax fans fail to understand media literacy oh my god Clark fans have got it down to the point. They care about this character beyond his looks and voice, they are willing to hear out criticism of Clark’s behavior and even offer it themselves which is practically unheard of in the TADC fandom.

You could argue that Gangle tortured Jax in the fast food ep but let’s be honest that scene amounted to nothing and he wasn’t actually impacted by it. Gangle however is constantly tormented by Jax and IS impacted by it! So that’s one innocent character!

I’ve seen some people say that Zooble was part of the reason why Caine went crazy because they were mean to him, but as much as I love Caine, that’s fucking stupid. Caine was legitimately torturing the cast, of course Zooble doesn’t like him.

I’ve also seen people say that Kinger is part of the reason why they’re there, but Pomni wouldn’t have even known that when she made her little speech! Also it’s not like Kinger was intentionally trapping them all in there so that’s stupid.

Ragatha had a valid crashout on Jax and made the fatal mistake of being a little mean while she was HIGH OUT OF HER MIND.

Jax got about 4 episodes if we count the whole Abel episode, 3 if we don’t, and either way that is still entirely too much. Jax is honestly a very simple character to get into, he’s not in control in the circus and he is scared of that so he takes control in his own way by terrorizing everyone else. He does not need 4 episodes.

Instead of focusing on him, we could’ve focused on the circus and world building. I know a lot of people may not care for that since it’s meant to be a character focused show but world building still matters. If you present a space as interesting and mysterious as the circus, you cannot expect people to be fine if you just don’t go into it. The circus is incredibly important to a character too, Caine literally made it.

Even if we don’t care about the circus, all that time spent on a self insert character took away from other characters. Zooble, Ragatha, Caine, and even our main character Pomni are not delved into half as much as Jax is and that irritates me.

Like I know I’m very critical and I’d love to say “OH THIS IDEA SUCKS I HATED IT FROM THE BEGINNING!!” but I honestly really liked it! The idea of a part of someone splitting off from them but believing they are still the person is really cool and tragic!

Unfortunately, there just wasn’t enough time to explore this concept. Nine episodes was not enough time to flesh this out fully and it was definitely too small to give any good closure or comfort to the characters that are now stuck forever

Maybe I’m just being a hater but aside from Vox wanting to be god I can’t really think of anything significant regarding religion and even that isn’t too amazing or anything. Like woohoo character with a god complex what now

I get wanting to fit something in a specific time frame and not wanting to pile a ton of work on everyone else, but I would’ve been happy with a 2-3 minute scene of them just clearing things up between them!

Instead we get an ambiguous ending without knowing how they made up and it’s expected that we just know they’re okay again and nothing that happened previously matters anymore because god forbid we actually close something in a way that matters!

C. Make her feel heard

D. Idk man. Have sex.
