“Didn’t you have a bundle of nightshade?”
“You did! It was practically a basketful, what happened to it?”
Sally glanced away and fidgeted with her stitches around her wrist.
“I hope you didn’t lose it.”
“…I poisoned him.” She mumbled nervously.
“I poisoned Dr. Finkelstein! It was only a little, and it was the only way I could go out and experience Halloween!”
Jacked gaped at her with delighted disbelief.
“…I just hope I didn’t do the wrong thing…”
“Oh, you’re a ragdoll, I don’t think you can do the wrong thing.”
“You told me what you thought months ago-“
“And I haven’t changed my mind. But…” Reluctantly, she passed the box wrapped in old newspaper over. Inside lay a perfect Sandy Claws suit. He stared at her, for once in his existence, speechless. “Don’t go pulling at the seams.” She murmured.
“…Should I say ‘thank you’?” He wondered hoarsely.
“Better not.” She didn’t meet his gaze.
“Let me give you a gift.” He offered desperately. “Anything you want.”
She watched him sadly. “…I don’t want anything from you, Jack.”
“You could stay at my place. If you like.”
“...I’m not sure the Doctor would like that.” She warned him gently.
“He doesn’t get a say. None of them do.”
