@triforce-princess As much I was too, frustrated by this, I think when it’s taken in the full context of the game it makes sense? Like when you read the journals it becomes clear link was in a really distant, bad mental state during the lead up to the Calamity.

When we see his little mannerisms and jokes and cute humming in the present, I think we’re meant to understand how much life weighed on him in the past. I think having him respond any other way would have made the current time in the game far less fulfilling and heartwrenching for the player.
