I’m sitting here thinking about the genuine possibility of a romance between two men in a film about childhood and clowns. The follow up to the highest grossing horror film of all time might very well have a gay love story as a canonical, articulated, crucial plot point. This might be one of the first main stream, big budget movies to display that LGBT people have a place in these stories and not as coded villains. That we live in stories that aren’t exclusively about being LGBT. I hope, on every star in the universe, that the crew hasn’t overlooked that because if this works out the way we want it to, this will be monumental.
