HIV lost an amazing advocate - since childhood she was an outspoken activist who opened a lot of people’s eyes especially in the early years of the epidemic. May she be at peace now.

Dr Curran has played such an integral role in the past 40 years of the HIV/AIDS epidemic.

Awesome to have a champion like this in the government helping to direct HIV funding and policies. Today (June 5) marks 40 years since the first report of what we know now as AIDS.

To commemorate 40 years since the publication of the June 1981 MMWR article on the strange disease that we now know as #AIDS, here is a #1988 #AmFAR and #AdCouncil AIDS Awareness poster

She was one of the first “mainstream” personalities to embrace HIV/AIDS. Choosing AIDS awareness as her Miss America platform in 1993 was a bold move.
