Living Abroad During A Crisis (Or 3)
COVID-19.
That’s all everyone is seeing nowadays, but tbh i gotta talk about it. I am still in Australia and have been advised to stay if possible (better and safer to stay here and isolate than to travel and be with family at this time sadly). While I have been LOVING my time here in Australia I can’t say that’s its been the easiest. Shortly after arriving to Sydney the Australian bush fires started up. This was really scary to experience, I have never before been up close to bush fires like this and I hope to never again. It was truly heartbreaking to see people lose their homes, to lose their resources, and lose their hope. Thankfully towards the end of February all the fires had been put out and contained.
HOWEVER, Shortly after that we experienced flooding, like biblical flooding lmao. It wasn’t TOO bad though and didn’t last too long, and we all expected life to go back to normal.
BUT IT DIDNT.
COVID-19 or Corona Virus, started getting really bad around the world, I won’t get too into this as we all know whats going on. But it really does seem like I haven’t gotten much of a break here.
I sadly haven’t done everything I’ve wanted to. Trips and plans have been cancelled, people fled home, I’ve seen a lot of loss here. But more than anything I’ve seen a lot of love and community. Although things here have been a little tough lately, its been really beautiful to see communities come together.
To my friends and family back home, THANK YOU! Having you check in with me is always amazing and I love it so much! Don’t stop! I will continue to update you all on life here in Australia and whats going on, but for now, I’m just doing what all are - hanging out inside!
