“Write me a love song, take away the sadness, you promise me the world, still I got the madness”

I’m sure most of you know of this song from Stevie’s 2001 solo album entitled Trouble In Shangri-La. She wrote it in the early seventies and considered recording the song for The Wild Heart but ultimately chose not to. Instead, Marilyn Martin recorded the song for a soundtrack with the majority of Stevie’s band and Stevie herself sang backing vocals. Towards the end of this recording, Stevie takes over and sings the primary vocal. I adore this version and I really, really wish Stevie had chosen to record “Sorcerer” on The Wild Heart because the Trouble in Shangri-La version is terrible in comparison.

I would love to hear this performed live - either Stevie solo, or with Lindsey as a duet. I don’t ask for much.
