I took as him saying a sort of internal script of what to say to defuse some of these situations. Long ass Suo theory under the cut. I PROMISE IT'S ACTUALLY SERIOUS THIS TIME
So we know that Suo also went to middle school in Makochi and I'm guessing he was there for maaaaaaybe two years at the least, which wouldn't make sense if he was only sent there to spy on Furin (though I guess they could of had him play the long game, but I digress). We know in middle school he didn't have a the leather eyepatch yet, just one of those medical grade ones.
Heres where my brain blast comes to fruition:
Perhaps his master had given him a task to sort of show if he was ready to properly join the ranks of the Red Chanpuru. As you might see where I'm going with this, I think he failed MISERABLY and as a result lost his eye.
His master, obviously not happy with these results, sent him on basically a sabbatical to go to school in Makochi, a town famously known for its gangs and just overall chaotic nature, to quite literally "git good."
By the time high school rolls around, Suo's made enough progress in his training that his master gifts him the leather eyepatch he now wears. Him choosing Furin was probably because it is still known as a delinquent school to those who aren't super in the know-how with the area and Suo probably prefers a school thats okay with fighting over a normie high school.
But ruh-roh, this delinquent school and the students who attend it are more than they appear to be. Suo starts growing attached to the school, to the gang, to his peers, and probably also to the town itself.
Then, the day finally comes where his master tells him "you are ready to take your place in the Red Chanpuru. I'm so proud of you etc etc" and while a few months ago he would of been jumping with joy at the idea of no longer going back to Makochi (it's a 4+ hour trip every day after all 😮💨) he now just feels a pit in his stomach. But his master is just so proud of him, his brothers are excited at the prospect of working alongside him, the kids are also excited to just see Suo more often that he doesn't have it in him to say no.
So
He does what he can to cut ties with Furin and with Makochi. He vanishes without a trace. His only interaction is with one of the members he KNOWS can't defeat him. He lies. He makes himself out to be a cold, heartless villain. He WANTS them to hate him so he can easily let go.
But Suo is also an idiot in his own right, because he seems to of forgotten the kind of people he befriended during his time in Makochi. He managed to become close with the most stubborn, understanding, and kind people who are not going to let him just clean his hands of them, the gang, and the town. At least, not without having a proper conversation.
I saw a comment (I've already forgotten where, like a CHUMP) that said smth along the lines of "I can't wait to see Rakta fall for Sakura like Endo and Togame" and after a day of that stewing in my head I believe that is NOT gonna happen. If Rakta is to "fall" for anyone it's gonna be Umemiya based on all the facial responses we were getting of him reacting to Umemiya's words and actions. Heres a more basic outline of how I think the Red Chanpuru officers interactions are gonna be:
Rakta -> Umemiya simp
Suo -> we already know he's a Sakura & Nirei simp
