STRANGER THINGS S5 SPOILERS!!
as a nerd i deeply enjoy studying and analyzing films (even taking a couple classes for it as well) and i can ensure everyone that has even an ounce of doubt about byler being a possibility because of the speech shouldn't be worried and the way they framed that scene was intentional.
just watching the scene i can see why a lot people would take it that way and i honestly cant blame them because until i rewatched it the same thing was going through my head but rest assured but this isnt the case people are making it out to be

robin never meant for that speech to be about mike. it was her experience that she went through and she wanted will to know that he wasnt the only one
tammy thompson is nothing like mike, down to the personality, character, and relationship they had with robin/will.
tammy was robin's crush, they didn't know each other and had no real relationship.
on the other hand, mike and will have been bestfriends for YEARS, being each other's first friends. that in itself already exceeds what tammy and robin were to each other. will is IN love with mike, evidently for at least a couple of years if you consider s3 being the start of will realizing his feelings. it was never just a simple crush for him.
robin hasnt been there to witness their dynamic throughout the years, what she did see however was will talking with mike in that field and what a lot of people consider to be a poor attempt at flirting. thats what she went off of, thinking mike was just another hallway crush to will like tammy was for her. she knew will needed to be able to find himself and accept the person he truly is without believing he needed mike to do so.
in comes the film she mentions she had made when she was younger, knowing it was exactly what will needed to hear. she saw herself in him and didnt want him to go through the same heartbreak as she did. but mike isnt tammy.
during the final scene memories of will and mike first meeting was replaying in his head, memories of his younger self before the upside down.
MEMORIES OF HIM AND MIKE FIRST MEETING WAS WHAT HELPED HIM SAVE EVERYONE.
some might argue that mike was el's "mixtape" (which... wouldnt even make sense in this context) when he "confessed" his love to her in california while she was in the salt bath fighting vecna to save to max.
basically what im trying to get at is el is mike's tammy thompson, not will's.
1. their stories are eerily similar when you look at the fact robin fell in love with tammy instantly, sound familar? because it is, mike fell in love with el when he first saw her in the woods, even saying it himself in the confession.
just gonna leave that there for you.
3. mike loves eleven (not solely) because of her powers. she saved the world multiple times over and he boasted about it. (first episode of s4 when talking to dustin about comparing their girlfriends). his entire speech to el was about her powers, he believed she could do anything with her powers.
well... guess what will has now..
that look alone has me convinced, sorry not sorry. (THE FUCKING SMILE AND LOOK OF PURE ADORATION OH MY GOD)
4. he referred to eleven as superMAN, why not wonder woman? will has powers now, hes the superman that metaphorically landed on his doorstep. (honestly quite literally with how that last scene played out)
i mentioned this in my earlier post but i cant get over it still. THIS RIGHT HERE. you can't see it but they're framed between two trees and is likely seen from robin's pov. JUST LOOK AT IT! i dont have to say much as everything speaks for itself in this very shot.
the only similar shot we got between mike and el was when they were on top of the roof. even then, their conversation was extremely awkward and clearly el didn't seem very convinced. compare that scene to this, and then try and tell me mike is just so in love with eleven because i wouldnt buy it.
6. the conversation robin and will had in the hospital.
him asking how robin knew vickie wanted to date??? robin saying it was the shared looks and touches? will and mike literally doing the same thing in the field??
they've been having a lot of "shared looks" throughout the first volume and even i immediately clocked that. they're closer than ever this season and circumstances aside, its not a coincidence.
overall i wouldnt be too concerned about byler not happening and the amount of people i see folding off robin's speech alone was concerning enough for me to say something about it because it was driving me nuts seeing the discourse EXPLODE everywhere. remember yours roots guys dont give up!! im fed off these crumbs alone and will continue feasting until the day i die
