I did not. But I did save a bunny.
We got home Saturday night after being away for nine days. Between eating out and enjoying homemade meals (thanks to others!), we were all craving a “mom-made” meal.
No one had any dinner requests, so I scrolled through my Pinterest board and landed on a shrimp taco recipe I'd been wanting to try. It has perfection!
The biggest win? I figured out how to get all the moisture out of the shrimp, so they crisped up perfectly. And because I can't help myself, I made a couple of changes. I tossed the shrimp in taco seasoning instead of following the recipe's seasoning instructions, and I doubled both the lime and sriracha in the sauce.
Go forth and make these tacos! Oh, and don't forget to make Annette Freckles's Easy Mexican Rice—it steals the show every time.
Please let fancy restaurant management know that while the restaurant is lovely and the food is delicious, rushing diners because another reservation is coming in is where the experience starts to fall apart.
Also, maybe let diners know at the time of booking that they have the table for a specific amount of time?!? Nothing ruins a nice dinner faster than feeling like you’re being politely pushed out the door.

Wore shorts today and decided my scary pale legs needed a little help, so I mixed some tanning lotion into my regular lotion.
Can someone please explain why self-tanning products smell so terrible? I do not remember them being this offensive.
Oh well. Looks like I'm going to smell like burnt chicken for the rest of the day. Good thing my stems are looking nice and bronzed.
My cousin's employer is one of the sponsors for the World Cup watch parties here in Seattle, so he drove up from PDX with passes for the waterfront watch party.
Yesterday he texted me asking if I wanted to play hooky on Friday and join him. Fifteen years ago? Absolutely. Without a second thought. Today? Not a chance.
The thought of fighting crowds, standing all day, searching for a bathroom or shade, and throwing my schedule into chaos honestly makes my skin itch. I wish I were kidding.
Instead, I'll be exactly where I want to be and enjoying the fact that my life no longer requires recovery time from my own decisions.
Tomorrow is the girls' last day of school, and I am so ready.
They'll both be Junior Counselors at swim club summer camp, we'll head to California to see family, and before we know it, they'll be off to sleepaway camp in August.
They're excited, we're excited, and somehow this school year felt both incredibly fast and unbelievably slow at the same time.

Our wedding-gift knives are almost 16 years old and had never been sharpened.
A mobile knife-sharpening vendor at the farmers market solved that problem this weekend, and now I have what can only be described as professional-grade weapons in my kitchen. I am simultaneously terrified and thrilled.
The most shocking part? I can't believe how long we've been using dull knives. Apparently, I had no idea what a truly sharp knife was supposed to feel like. 😂

Hazel had her first real shaving cut, and it wasn’t on her ankle or around her knee. Nope, somehow my girl managed to slice up the back of her leg.

Between 4:45-5 pm, on my way home from work
I was driving up the hill in [our neighborhood], had just gone over the second speed bump and was nearing the curve by the power lines, when I noticed Mac coming down the hill on his scooter. He was on the correct side of the street, then suddenly, out of nowhere & without looking he made a U-turn right in front of my car. I hit my brakes and sat there in disbelief as he rode off, unaware of how dangerous that was. Thankfully I was paying attention and not driving fast.
I know it wasn’t intentional, but that U-turn right in front of my car was really scary. If I hadn’t been paying attention, something could have happened.
Please speak with him about scooter safety, always paying attention & staying aware of his surroundings, and understanding who has the right of way.
