Mercury and Argus by Peter Paul Rubens | Indra & Jyestha.
Argus was appointed by Hera to watch and guard Io, the βcowβ Zeus βgiftedβ Hera but Io was really Zeusβs mistress who was turned into a cow by Zeus as a disguise. Hera chose Argus because he has one hundred eyes all over his body, making him the perfect watchman. Even if Argus is asleep, some of his eyes were still open and for that reason, Zeus sent Hermes to fetch Io from Argus. Hermes disguised himself as a shepherd, approached Argus and pulled out an instrument that he would use to successfully lure Argus to sleep. Once Argus was asleep and all his eyes were closed shut, Hermes pulled out a sword and slayed him. What Argus and Jyestha have in common is that Indra also has many eyes all over his body too. Just like Argus used his eyes to be a successful watchman, Indra used his many eyes the same way but as the king of the gods, so imagine if Zeus was the one with many eyes all over his body and the advantage that would have gave him. From this comparison, a key characteristic in Jyesthaβs will be hyper vigilance.
