If it’s my first fandom and the one I got into most recently…then Digimon and Invader Zim.

In this AU, the aliens are Digital Monsters, and the Membrane kids get stuck in the Digital World, which they are supposed to save by partnering up with Irkens, who can evolve into stronger forms temporarily when their human partner triggers their PAK.

Zim and Dib are supposed to be partners, but hate each other, so if Zim transforms, it’s usually into an extremely destructive loose canon (a la SkullGreymon). Dib would argue that Zim is always uncontrollable and indiscriminately violent, so it’s not Dib’s fault if the transformation makes it worse!

(On the rare occasions when they team up properly, Dib can use the Digi-Egg of Knowledge to turn Zim into Mothmon.)

Tak is paired up with Gaz, who couldn’t care less about saving the Digital World but really wants to get home on time for yearly family dinner, so she helps in dire situations. Plus, she has fun piloting Tak when she digivolves into the Tak-ship. Gaz’s Crest is the mean, brutally honest version of Sincerity.

For extra chaos, maybe more Skool kids get paired up with other Irkens. If Keef makes Skoodge digivolve with the Crest of Friendship, they will be unstoppable.

It's been a year and a half or so since I've been in a room full of people so this isn't a recent story, but I thought about this while talking to a fellow introvert friend. Do any of you have to take breaks from social gatherings to just stand all alone in the bathroom and mentally recharge?
