“Do you believe in soulmates?” That was the first time I had heard those words out of your mouth. it was a late night and the group was hanging out. Everyone had different answers while I had merely shook my head. I don't think you noticed.

“Do you believe in soulmates?” You asked again, this time months apart. It was between us and a few members. This time you pressed me when I shook my head. I remember how i said No, because i thought it was stupid.

“Do You Believe in soulmates?” This time we were alone. It was dark and we decided to pay the stars a visit. When I said no and asked you what you think. You told me “of course, the universe loves lovers.” But I couldn’t help but scoff, the universe had better things to do than ship people.

“Do you believe in soulmates?” I had just proposed and frankly, i thought it was a dumb question to ask. This time I said Maybe. You looked at me in surprise but I just shook my shoulders. To be fair I was high on adrenaline from the nerve of proposing.

“Do you believe in soulmates?” This time I have an answer. I may seem like I’ve been building up to a yes but after long thought: No, i do not believe in soulmates. We are together because we want to be and because we worked hard to be. The universe sat and watched as we fought and ran in the rain to apologize. Where was the universe when our voices were worn out from shouting and late night door slams? It was us. The universe doesn't care about lovers. But it is us humans who love lovers more than love itself. And I say this not to disagree but to tell you that the only reason we work is because we want it to work. And I will continue giving it my all to work. And i cannot wait until i read these words out in the alter.

And it is during the Sun's favourite morning and the moons loneliest night that i mourn like I do not mourn love, and i do not mourn what had been. No, i mourn what                              shouldve                                      couldve                                            wouldve been. i mourn the tears i never cried during breakups i never had with people i never got. I mourn the crushes that never grew, and i mourn the loves i did not pursue. Then i mourn the likes i never loved and the loved i never liked. And i do not cry, i do not shed a tear. Because it does not hurt, simply aches. It does not burn to never love, it simply aches in ways lonelier than ever, And i do not drown in sorrow but i dip my feet in pain. And i wonder if i hadnt given up, where would i be today? for i cannot explain enough how hurtful it is to be loved so much but never enough.
