Bill Carter Topcat, 1991. British custom and fantasy car maker, Bill Carter's last project. The Topcat was a forward control, tandem-seat street-legal one-off supercar powered by a mid-mounted 600hp Jaguar V12 engine. The passenger accommodation was beneath a Tornado jet fighter canopy.

Mercury Marquis Convertible, 1969. The second generation Marquis was expanded to a full range (it was launched as a 2-door hardtop). It is pictured with Al Kaline (nick-name Mr Tiger, 1934-2020) who was a Detroit Tigers right fielder and is a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame. He was also part of the Lincoln-Mercury Sports Panel, appearing at auto shows and autographing postcards.

What a difference 41 years makes juxtaposition of Renault 5 Alpine Turbo, 1982 & Alpine A290 β Concept, 2023. Renault marketed an Alpine version of the first generation R5 between 1982 and 84. The new A290 will be Alpine's version of the new generation electric Renault 5

Long roof long gone Pontiac Catalina Safari, 1971. The Safari name was applied to Pontiac's station wagon from 1955 through to 1991 when it was last used on the 6000 Safari, the brand's last wagon. Pontiac replaced all of their wagons with there Trans Sport minivan. The 1971 Safari debuted a glide away tailgate where the rear power-operated glass slid up into the roof as the tailgate slid down into a recess under the cargo floor

Saab 96, 1974. The 96 was introduced in 1960 as an updated version of the 93 that traced its origins back to 1955. It remained in production for 20 years until 1980. By 1974 it was powered by a 1.7 litre version of Ford's V4 engine. The aerodynamic design was by Sixten Sason

Cizeta Moroder V16T Prototype, 1988. First presented at the Los Angeles Auto show, the product of a joint venture between some ex-Lamborghini employees, composer Giorgio Moroder (pictured with the car) and Marcello Gandini. The engine is based on the Lamborghini Urraco's 90° DOHC flat-plane V8 and comprised 2 banks of cylinders arranged in a V configuration with 2 cylinder heads per bank. The resulting engine has 64 valves, 8 overhead camshafts and produced 540hp. Production in Italy started in 1991 and moved to California in 1995 but in total only 13 cars were made

 Laffite LM1, 2023, by GFG Style. Another of the Giugiaro-designed electric hypercars, the LM1 is intended for racing but is homologated for road use. The dome/cockpit is very narrow, teardrop-shaped, and with a maximum width of 90 cm as required by regulations for racing cars of this type. Laffite Automobili has been founded by ex-F1 drive Jacques Laffite's nephew

Ford Thunderbird Hardtop, 1966. This was the final year for the 4th generation T-bird that had seen the model dominate the personal luxury class. It debuted sequential turn signals that flashed three bulbs in the horizontal tail lights from inside to outside.
