All night long Judy had been wondering why she decided to come here - to a party, of all the crazy things. The room was too full of people. The music was too loud. Everybody was too drunk. It was the total opposite to her preferred environment. A misguided attempt to make friends. Sick and tired of being an outcast. safe to say it was a failed experiment and it didn't take long before Judy knew she wanted out.
The older Henderson sibling was making her escape when she saw Steve 'The Hair' Harrington himself looking wasted. She barely knew him, knowing only that he had some kind of friendship with her little brother but something still compelled her to want to help him. He seemed a lot less intimidating now than he did in school.
His refusal to go with her at first brought a look to Judy's face that said 'really?' Steve luckily came to his senses though, when he seemed to realize he couldn't even string together a sentence to argue with her. Good because there was no way she could carry him out! Being outside was the biggest relief of the entire night and she was surprised when a flicker of recognition appeared on Steve's face.
He actually remembered her. Judy nodded, understanding him despite his compromising state. A smile even followed.
"And you're Steve Harrington. Dustin talks about you all the time."
Honestly, she couldn't understand why. He always seemed like kind of a dick at school and it was obvious to Judy then that he had no idea she even existed. She wasn't a cheerleader or a popular girl. She was a weird kid who kept to herself.
Who knows? Maybe he had changed since then, but Judy couldn't see it right now - although she always tried to reserve judgment instead of taking things at face value.
"Can you walk okay? We have to get you back home."
