No child deserves the hurt, pain, and anger you feel. Your parents are selfish and self absorbed because of their own bad habits. They chose a meth pipe over you and your brother… they chose chasing a high instead of fighting to get sober for you and your brother… they chose to be selfish instead of choosing to fill your childhood with happy memories. One day they will realize they should’ve been there for you and your brother, but one thing they will never be able to do is take credit for molding you into who you have become. One day you’re going to have to find it in your heart to forgive them, not for them, but for yourself. That doesn’t mean you have to forget, but you have to forgive to move past it and let go of that hurt. We didn’t offer to adopt you to replace your parents, we offered to adopt you to let you know we will always want you and we will always love you and think of you as our own… regardless of if you want to be adopted of not, we will always want you. You are our family, and our family would not be complete without you. One day the hurt will stop, the pain will stop, and the anger will stop. But until then, we will walk through the storm together, and when you are too weak to walk we will carry you. God knew we needed you, and we will always need you.
